Surviving Apocalypse with Powers of Fictional Characters

Drifting in darkness, a lone young woman found herself regaining consciousness.

'Where is this?'

Tilting her head in every direction, she tried to get a feel of where she is at.

'Mom. Dad. Elder brothers…'

She tried standing up, but only succeeded after a few tries.

She screamed and called everyone she knows.

But the cruel void did not give her any form of response.

"Chai…*sob*…Zack *hic*"

The feeling of helplessness shadowed over her heart.

At a point where, she felt like staying in the silent darkness would be the best choice.

'I…I'm so tired. Of the running…fighting…thinking…sigh. It would be so much easier if things end here…'

Echoes were heard from the void.

It gets louder and louder, but she couldn't hear it because she has chosen to shut her senses down.

*MELISSA!*

*MELISSA!! WAKE UP!!*

*WAKE THE F*CK UP, YOU BIG-BREASTED CRY BABY!*

"Gasp!" (Melissa)

Blinking her bejeweled eyes and long beautiful lashes, she was mortified by her current view.

"Annie? Joy? What's going on? Where's the zomb-" (Melissa)

Before she could finish her sentence, two blonde Australian women jumped and hugged her!

Tears and cries were smothering Melissa from every angle.

After Joy and Annie had their fill of relief, she then tried to stand up.

Wobbling like a baby, she almost fell when two dashingly attractive men held her arms.

"CHAI! ZACK!" (Melissa)

A mixed feeling gushed out from her heart.

"I'm so sorry. I'm so, so sorry Mel. I was so stupid and too confident of myself. Please forgive me." (Zack)

Sensing the trembling from Zack's body, Melissa's tears welled up while being hugged by him.

She patted and stroked his back, whispering 'we've done our best' to his ears.

Being released from the warm, comforting hug, Melissa saw Chai's grinning face.

"Welcome back, crybaby~"(Chai)

Like a broken dam, streams of liquid trickled down non-stop down her fair, delicate skin.

Crying uncontrollably, she pounded her fists on Chai's chiseled chest out of anger and relief.

"YOU'RE SUCH A D*CK!! I NEVER THOUGHT I COULD SEE YOU AGAIN! I HATE YOU! I HA- *sob* -YOU…*woowoo*" (Melissa)

Enveloping her with one hand, Chai let her cry on him for several minutes.

Looking up to Chai's pretty face with her puffy eyes, she pouted and said: "I'm not a crybaby. Hmph!"

"Hehe, whether you think you are one or not, you're always going to be our 'crybaby'. It did the trick though, you woke up." (Chai)

Wiping away her tears, her pink-reddish complexion expressed confusion.

"What do you mean it did the trick? Didn't I just fainted?" (Melissa)

"Mel, you didn't just faint, you were in a coma for almost three days." (Annie)

Startled, Melissa was surprised that what seemed like an instantaneous moment turned out to be three long days.

She explained that in her 'dreams' that she was stuck in a dark place with no sounds, no smell, and nothing to touch except the cold, hard ground.

"Your injuries recovered, but you just weren't waking up. We tried everything…but you were still unconscious." (Joy)

The mature Australian ex-nurse had dark circles around her eyes.

She explained to Melissa that they had to try another approach.

"Mel, let me introduce someone to you." (Zack)

A doll-like, auburn-haired beauty appeared on Melissa's view.

"Hi Mel…we finally meet." (Jen)

'She's so pretty. Why does she feel so…familiar?' (Melissa)

While shaking her hands, Melissa was trying to remember where has she seen her.

"Kyaa!" (Melissa)

Jennifer's voice in her head made Melissa stepped backward.

"Yup, she got 'introduced' alright!" (Chai)

The whole room was giggling and laughing softly.

After making sure Melissa was one-hundred percent alright, they sat down on a round teak-colored table.

There were plates and dishes of food.

Like a hungry ghost, Melissa ate non-stop. She was famished after being in a coma for three days.

All eight of them, including Captain Nassah and his subordinate, Lieutenant Johan joined the feast.

"So what happened to me? What happened to you guys?" (Melissa)

She eagerly asked all of them while drinking iced tea on a navy-colored sofa.

"Mel, after I and Chai rolled out of the car, we saved Jen from the zombies that were trapped inside the Fire Station. After that, we-" (Zack)

"Zack, let me." (Jen)

Placing her rosy index finger on Zack's babbling lips, she then proceeded to use her [Telepathy] to project her thoughts, or specifically memories, to recollect the past three days' events.

'Ungh…my head.' (Jen)

Feeling light-headed, she blinked her heavy eyelids before getting up.

"She's awake!"

Jennifer located the owner of the voice.

'Hm-Aah!' (Jen)

She saw Captain Nassah's unfamiliar face and reacted out of instinct.

"Miss! Miss! Please calm down! We mean no harm! Please!" (Captain Nassah)

Placed in the same situation before, he rigorously flailed his four limbs in the air.

"Jen, we're here. It's okay! They're on our side!" (Zack)

His deep, soothing voice made Jen felt relieved.

She slowly put the scared and flustered Captain down on the ground with her [Telekinesis].

"Are you okay, Captain?" (Lieutenant Johan)

The young, late-20s ranked officer helped his senior to get up.

"Sigh, if this continues on, I would have aged another ten years." (Captain Nassah)

"Mornin' SunShine. Had a good sleep?" (Chai)

With food in his mouth, Chai walked towards the crowd with Jennifer in the center.

"How long was I out cold?" (Jen)

"Not long, only half a day." (Zack)

*Grumble*

Jennifer's stomach made an embarrassing sound.

"Hehe, I know you'd be hungry after sleeping for 12 hours. Here, eat up. Ah, but leave the Tuna Buns, I like those." (Chai)

With a blushing face, Jennifer took some food item from Chai's hands.

While she was eating, they introduced Joy, Annie, and the two military men to Jennifer.

"Hm? I thought you said there are three women? Where's the other one?" (Jen)

She asked the group with an innocent face.

The atmosphere turned cold in an instant.

"I'll bring you to her once you're done eating." (Zack)

With his assuring tone, Jennifer nodded obediently.

With one palm on her mouth, Jennifer was surprised seeing Melissa's condition.

She felt everybody's depressed and anxious emotions in the room with [Empathy].

Subconsciously, she read everyone's mind.

The Royal Airforce's Main Building Shelter was adequately fortified.

They had enough manpower, weapons and even ammunition to handle several zombie hordes.

Riding on a first-person's view, she saw that Annie, Joy and Melissa arrived at the base several minutes after Zack and Chai jumped out of the car to save her.

'Three thousand..no, four thousand survivors. What's this? [Enhanced] individuals?'

Using Melissa's unique identity, she gained access easily.

The team were introduced to the highest ranking officer of the Shelter.

She saw that most of the Airmen and soldiers, including a good number of survivors, acquired the [Enhanced System].

'I see. You obtain them when you kill zombies in the first…eight hours? Aah, no wonder Annie and Joy did not have them. They passed the eight-hour mark since the start of the Apocalypse.'

In the memories, the siren from the Fire Station did not only re-attracted the zombies that Zack's original team painstakingly lured away, but also the undead from the vicinity.

Code Red alarm were sounded off throughout the base.

'The walkers snowballed by the minutes. But why did they choose to attack the base instead of going straight towards the Fire Station?'

Then she remembered the horribly strengthened Second-Level Undead.

'She must've sensed that there were many [Enhanced] in that base.'

Going by logic and desire, the quality and quantity of delicious 'meals' inside the Shelter were more worthy to go for.

The enticing smell of the upgraded individual's brains drove the Second-Level to siege the fortified base.

'Wait, if there are more than four hundred [Enhanced] in the base, why did they fall?'

Then, the nightmare-ish scene played in her head.

'W-What? There was TWO Second-Level Undead?! My g-'

The three-hour-long battle for survival ended in just a mere three minutes when a Second-Level Undead commanded another horde to attack them from the rear.

The base's strategy to attract the first Second-Level on the front by sound worked perfectly, up until the second one came.

By the time they realized the presence of the Second-Level Undead, bodies of [Enhanced] individuals dropped like flies.

They saw the horrible scene of a figure with dry, striated muscles pry open skulls.

Jennifer almost threw up in her mouth.

'Reliving this scene…I'll never get used to it.'

Hundreds and dozens of pinkish, walnut looking patties were being eaten by the Second-Levels as if they were eating a delicious home-made cake.

The battle tilted towards the undead's favor with just two significant creatures.

'If we've already killed the female-looking one…then…'

The other Second-Level looked like a male.

Relatively broad shoulders, bald-head, angular jaw.

Instead of relying on speed and agility like the female Second-Level, it pushes through the Shelter by its sheer body's toughness.

Jennifer felt the anguish and despair of Annie, Joy, Captain Nassah and Lieutenant Johan.

KA DANG!

DHOOM!

Loud gunshots rang in her ears.

'Who's shootin- Mel!'

Through a third-party's view, she saw an elegant, fairy-like lady clad in matte-black combat suit firing a sniper rifle.

KA BOOM!

'It's effective! Her sniping actually managed to injure the male Second-Level!'

Melissa's god-like accuracy was unchallenged in the whole base.

She was given a 2018 Barett M82 sniper rifle. The best sniping equipment the whole base has to offer.

Shooting out 12.7 x 99mm bullets, it could produce more than 3,000 Joules of energy upon impact to the target.

"SNIPERS! USE ANYTHING THAT SHOOTS 12.7 X 99 MM! I WANT THAT THING DEAD!!"

Jennifer heard a command coming from a tanned commanding officer.

'Looks like Captain Nassah is the strike team's leader.'

He passed down the information quickly and swiftly.

Injured by unsuspecting bullets, the Second-Level male zombie roared to intimidate his enemies.

The swarming zombies started to surround him in every angle.

The probability of hitting the Second-Level went down significantly.

The humans switched up their strategies to expose the Second-Level by bombarding grenades and mortars.

As a result, the male Second-Level got heavily injured by the time it was 200-meters away from Melissa's sniping point.

'We have a chance to win!'

But their hopes were betrayed.

WOOAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!

The high-pitched roar invaded the base from the rear.

By the time all four of them realized it, another wave of undead pervaded their floor!

The whole base was almost decimated.

Radio commands from various outposts rang off in chaos.

Messages of teams being wiped out one by one incited hopelessness.

But Melissa still concentrated on finding the male Second-Level.

As the intelligence of the mutated abominations was equal to a five-year-old, she could pinpoint it kept on sniping.

"TEAM! THE BASE IS COMPROMISED!! WE HAVE TO ESCAPE, NOW!" (Captain Nassah)

He howled his order to everyone in the room while holding off the zombies at bay.

As if possessing a sixth-sense, Melissa jumped swiftly from her sniping position to pull both the Lieutenant and the Captain from an impending danger!

SLASH!!

Five soldiers' faces and neck were struck by sword-like appendages!

Blood gushed out like water fountains.

That was when they heard a chilling squeal…of the female Second-Level Undead.

"Skeeeeee-Sllllllllurpp-Nyum Nyum. Ngeeeeeeeeee!"

Its horrendous eyes smiled upwards, as if a little child laying its eyes on its birthday presents.

"TAKE THEM AWAAAY!" (Melissa)

She pushed Captain Nassah and Lieutenant Johan behind her. She wants them to take the powerless Annie and Joy away from the battle.

"NOOOO! MEL, WE'RE GOING TOGETHER! WE'RE NOT LEAVING WITHOUT YOU!!" (Annie)

Annie screamed on top of her lungs.

The female Second-Level engaged Melissa into a melee battle.

As a Dexterity and Agility-type [Enhanced], she could hold her ground against the speed-type female creature.

SMAAASH!

Captain Nassah broke the window and threw a rope down.

He carried Joy down with her to the ground.

"MEL! MEL!! NOOOOOOOOO!!!" (Annie)

Annie struggled to escape Lieutenant Johan's hold.

'I promised Chai I will prove myself to him! We can't leave Mel behind!'

In a split-second, she broke away from his arms and ran towards Melissa.

Seeing the fist-fight became a stalemate, the female Second-Level saw another human running towards them.

Melissa's stamina started to drain drastically.

Until she realized, the creature changed her target!

"ANNIEEEEEE!!" (Melissa)

As the female creature's razor sharp claws were about to reach Annie's neck, she utilized all her remaining energy for the last moment burst!

SHWACCKKK!

KABOOM! CRACK!

All Lieutenant Johan saw was a blur. Their moments were too fast for him to follow.

The next second, he saw Melissa's combat armor being ripped to pieces while being thrown down the floor.

She rolled a few times before hitting the brick wall.

The impact was so tremendous, it was like she was hit by a speeding car!

"Nnngguuuuuuweeeeeeeeee-kweeekweeee~"

Looking at its delicious prey lying down on the ground, bloodied but still breathing, it slowly walked towards her.

Annie and the Lieutenant were frozen in fear.

Seconds later, the male Second-Level Undead burst through the entrance.

"Grrrrrrrrrrr-shkeeeeeeeeeeeee!"

What seemed to unintelligible gibberish coming out from the male creature, the female somehow understood what he said.

What started off as light 'conversations', both of them then began to get into a heated argument.

Their body language suggests that the male wants to have Melissa, but the female strictly forbade it.

"ANNIE…JOY…R-RUN AWAY…" (Melissa)

Her meek, weaken voice was heard by the two creatures.

BAAAANNGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!

A blindingly bright light obstructed the Second-Level Undead's eyes.

They shrieked in shock and agony of having their sight temporarily missing.

'Lieutenant Johan!'

Jennifer saw him threw several flash bombs and smoke bombs to disrupt the zombie's senses.

Three of them escaped by a hair's breadth.

By the time the mutated zombies recovered their sight, the four of them were long gone.

The four of them escaped into the forest.

'She's bleeding too much!' (Lieutenant Johan!)

Fearing that the zombie-controlling creatures would follow them, he threw some stink bombs and spread some pepper spray liquids to cover the smell.

He then took out a knife and ripped Melissa's shirt out.

"HEYYY! WHAT ARE YOU DOING!!!"

Annie and Joy were screaming in shock.

Lieutenant Johan ignored their complaints and took out a lighter. He began heating up the sharp knife that he was holding.

Scanning thoroughly her almost naked body, he ripped of a cloth from his uniform and wiped several region of her bloodied body.

A young, supple and healthy body shape revealed themselves.

In the normal times, her voluptuous body could even topple kingdoms.

"Sorry, Miss Melissa." (Lieutenant Johan)

Pssssstttttttttttt~

'I see. So he was cauterizing the wounds to stop the bleeding.' (Jennifer)

After the Lieutenant was done, he picked Melissa again and get them on the run again.

He also explained the reason why he did it.

They ran non-stop until they reached the Country Club.

Being on guard, they did not rest until a few hours has passed.

'They began setting up traps to counter the Second-Level zombies.' (Jennifer)

Joy then began treating Melissa's wounds.

"Cough! Cough!!"

Melissa's broken ribcages made her cough up blood.

" *hic* Hang, hang in there, Mel! *sob* You'll be okay, you'll be okay…you have to be okay!" (Annie)

"Annie, stay outside. It's a critical time for her, I can't let anything contaminate her wounds." (Joy)

The first-aid kits scavenged throughout the Country Club were not enough to stabilize Melissa's condition.

Joy told the two military men that if she does not get immediately medical attention, or brought into the hospital, her chance of living is less than 10%.

Captain Nassah then told her that there is a hospital reserved for the Air Force staffs few kilometers away.

"But Captain, if I'm not mistaken…the hospital might be compromised too." (Lieutenant Johan)

"Compromised or not, we owe our lives to Young Miss! We have to do our best to save her!" (Captain Nassah)

After a brief but thorough discussion, they decided to send Captain Nassah to the Air Force Hospital.

Captain Nassah is also an [Enhanced].

He chose to increase his Agility, Strength and Vitality stats.

With his speed, he could return in less than half an hour.

When he arrived at the Hospital, he was surprised by the turn of events.

'H-How…wh-when did they-' (Captain Nassah)

The hospital was safe and secured!

What shocked him the most, was that it was fortified as if it was a Shelter.

The Captain thought hard and long who and how did the Hospital became so secured.

As to his knowledge, all other buildings were abandoned.

'There's no time. Young Miss' life is hanging on a thread.'

He then approached the Hospital's vicinity.

"HALT! WHO GOES THERE?!!"

A loud,harsh voice rang off from inside the fortress.

The Captain then identified himself.

"THIS IS ABANG LONG RAZZ'S TERRITORY! WHAT DO YOU WANT?!!"

The shadow who sounded the rude-toned statement starts to show himself.

It was a pudgy, thin-haired man who's sweating bullets.

He was wearing a Firemen's protective suit with an automatic rifle strapped on his shoulders.

"Civilian! One of our members is severly injured and needs critical medical attention! Please let us in!" (Captain Nassah)

"EXPLAIN TO I, YOUR FATHER, WHY THE F*CK SHOULD I CARE IF YOU BAST*RDS LIVE OR DIE, HUH?!"

The imposing man's facial feature was finally near enough to be recognized through the metal gates.

When Jennifer saw that face, her anger shot up through the roof!

'THAT SON OF A B*TCH! SO HE'S THERE!!'

It was the exact person who caused the death of her late fiancé, Danny.

The fat, [Enhanced] pervert called Fat Bill!
