Chapter 15: A Life Too Prosperous Isn’t Good

“Second sister, I’m okay,” Cen Baihe pursed his mouth, revealing a subtle smile. But his expression was enough to make Second Miss Cen smile happily. After repeatedly confirming that there was no problem with her youngest brother’s condition, she left with peace of mind.

After Second Miss Cen left, Cen Baihe coughed lightly and said to the driver, “Continue driving. Don’t simply stop by the road.”

Even though his tone was calm, the driver heard his annoyance and said, “Yes, Young Fifth.”

Cen Baihe stopped speaking. He had always been quiet and reserved. Even though the driver felt a little anxious, he quickly got used to it.

After the car drove into the country road, the road became bumpy. The driver drove carefully but the road condition was too bad. Qi Yan was enjoying the bumpiness in the car.

Fifth Master Cen remained silent the entire journey. He sat in a cloud of purple mist and absorbed his good fortune quietly. But he didn’t have any relationship with Fifth Master Cen, so the purple mist was just floating around him, very little of it actually stayed on his body.

Even though it was only a little, he felt that his master would have woken up from the grave if he told him that he was sitting in such a dense cloud of purple mist.

The car drove on the country road for about an hour and finally stopped. Cen Qiusheng did not immediately bring them to see the house, but he found a farmhouse so that everyone could eat.

Lunch was good, but Qi Yan could see that the four masters who were sitting on the same table as him did not look so good. It was as though they were facing a great problem.

Of course they were worried. They came to study the Feng Shui in order to increase Fifth Master Cen’s fortune, but when they saw his face, they knew they couldn’t do it.

They were well-known masters in the Capital City. Although they were not as good as the celestial masters who rarely revealed themselves, there were also many celebrities who had contacted them. If they failed this time, it would affect their reputation if the news spread.

If Feng Shui could not solve it, they had to use sorcery. But they were all righteous taoists, how could they do something that would harm others?

The first option would ruin their reputation, the second would harm others. The four of them were conflicted because they knew that.

Fifth Master Cen’s life was too blessed, so much so that it was damaging. It might not work even if they were to use sorcery. When fate was too strong for a person, no one could change it no matter what they did.

The four of them were so worried that they lost their appetite. Qi Yan who had a good appetite became noticeable.

Master Zhao pushed his glasses and smiled, “Master Qi has such a good appetite.” Young people were so clueless. He could still eat in this situation?

“I am still growing. If I miss a meal, my stomach would growl.” Qi Yan ate quickly, but he didn’t look rude. So when others watched him eat, they’d only resent him for having such a good appetite but not feel disgusted by him.

After hearing Qi Yan’s rational answer, Master Zhao did not know how to respond. At Qi Yan’s age, he would indeed have such a big appetite. But what would they think of him who ate so well at this time?

Master Liu, who was bald, was the fattest of the four masters. He watched Qi Yan eat, and he couldn’t help but eat a little himself. After hearing Master Zhao ask Qi Yan, he remembered to put down his chopsticks, “Master Qi, do you think there is any good way to deal with this matter today?”

They weren’t sure what trick Qi Yan had up his sleeve, so they wanted to find out. If he was the kind who would take a shady path, they would stay away from him in the future.

Everyone wanted to protect their reputation. If they used a shady method to change others’ fate, even if the government didn’t know about it, the rest in their own circle would never let them go.

Qi Yan put down his chopsticks and wiped off the oil stain at the corner of his mouth. He shook his head lightly, “Too much is damaging, there is no solution at the moment.”

The four of them knew that this Master Qi was a man with true ability. Generally, a normal taoist  could only see that Cen Baihe had a prosperous life, but they would not see that this person had too much of it that became damaging.

The four of them did not dare to underestimate Qi Yan because of his age. There were masters who had acquired great success through hard work, and there were also those who had innate abilities and were naturally good at this. The four of them belonged somewhere in the middle, but Qi Yan might belong to the latter.

Thinking of this, they felt pity. If they had met this young man sooner, they might be able to get a good apprentice that others would envy.

They didn’t know who was the lucky person who had him as an apprentice. No wonder they had never heard of the name Qi Yan before. His master must have deliberately hid his precious apprentice and only let him out when he’s grown up.

“Master Qi is young and promising, I wonder who’s your master?” Master Liu’s voice was a little hoarse. Although he lacked one eye, his face was very gentle, like a Taoist who had seen through the world, which left a good impression on others.

Qi Yan smiled, “My master was an unknown Taoist, it’s not worth mentioning.”

The four knew the unspoken rules. If the other party didn’t want to talk about it, it’s rude if they kept asking, so they all looked at each other knowingly and let it go.

“Second sister, the look on the masters’ face does not look so good, is it that…” First Master Cen tugged on his sister’s sleeve and gestured for her to look at the masters.

Second Miss Cen said without turning her head, “Those who work in this field are all like that. If they don’t make it seem serious, how would they show off their abilities?”

First Master Cen knew that his second sister was a firm atheist, so he was not surprised hearing her say that. “What if they really have abilities?”

Second Miss Cen looked at him without speaking. She also wished that these people were indeed that great.

The two of them turned around and looked at their brother who was handsome and sitting elegantly beside their father and felt a subtle ache in their heart.

After finishing their meal, they continued on the journey. But this time, Qi Yan was alone in the car. Fifth Master Cen was probably riding in the same car as his family.

After about half an hour of driving, the car stopped again. The bodyguard outside opened the door for Qi Yan. After he got down, he saw a house with concrete tiles, red bricks and wooden beams. The house was built on top of a mountain and there were many trees in its surroundings. One immediately felt comfortable looking at the scenery.

It was clear that such a big house that was located in the countryside of the Capital City was expensive. Many entrepreneurs had worked hard to pay the down payment for a house. When they finally walked into the house, they would receive a message on their phone saying “X Province Welcomes You.”

“Master Qi,” First Master Cen saw that Qi Yan did not move from his original position and made an inviting gesture towards him, “Would you like to go in?”

Qi Yan shook his head and pointed at a small hill behind the house, “I will look up there.”

“Sure, I’ll go with you.” First Master Cen noticed that the others had accompanied the four masters into the old mansion, so he decided to take two bodyguards and go with Qi Yan to the hill. The hill was not high, it should not take too long.

The four of them walked up the stone steps. There were no farms on the hill, only lush trees in the surroundings. One could hear the birds and crickets chirping which gave a sense of tranquility.

The four of them spent twenty minutes climbing up the hill that didn’t seem so high. Qi Yan stood on top of the hill and looked down and noticed that the Cen mansion was located in a prime location.

A location like this was indeed prosperous. It seemed like the Cen family had spent a lot of effort when building this house.

“Good location, Mr. Cen must have wealthy ancestors.” Qi Yan put his hand behind his back and said to First Master Cen, “Your ancestor had a good eye.”

No one would dislike pleasant words. First Master Cen thought that although Master Qi hadn’t said more than a few words from the beginning until now, everything he said made people happy. “I heard that the descendants of the Cen family never moved the location of the house after my great great grandfather built it. We only did some restoration.”

Qi Yan nodded and did not continue speaking. After he was done looking and prepared to go downhill, there was a vague figure walking on the path to the hill. He could hear someone coughing in the distance.

He took a closer look and recognized the figure.

It was Fifth Master Cen.
