The General’s Vampire Omega

Chapter 2: Take Them Like This

Luo ZhouZhou regretted his answer as soon as he had finished it, and felt very ashamed. The secret that all the vampires in the clan had to protect, without even threatening to burn him to death with a torch, before he was brutally tortured, he confessed with just a gun and a word.

I am not worthy of being a vampire.

The more Luo ZhouZhou thought about it, the more he regretted it, and at the same time, he was so desperate and ashamed that he couldn't help but cry.

At first, only tears were shed, and gradually uncontrollable gasps were made. Cascades of tears trickled down his face and hung on his crumbling fake beard. He tried to bury his face in his lap, just made a crouching motion, glanced at the man across the room, and stood up straight again, crying.

The man in front of him stopped talking and just stood there watching him, only withdrawing his pistol into his waistband holster.

Just then, the sound of chaotic footsteps grew from far to near, and the group of soldiers finally caught up with him.

Luo ZhouZhou closed his eyes and heard their heavy breathing, the muffled clash of boots against each other as they stood still, and a high-pitched salute.

"General Chu Feng."

No one spoke, only Luo ZhouZhou's sobbing could be heard, despite his best efforts to suppress it.

"General Chu, this man…" When he saw the scene before him, the head soldier didn't know what to do, so he tentatively said, "Should we put him in custody first?"

Seemingly after some consideration, the man facing Luo ZhouZhou, aka Chu Feng, replied, "I'll take him away."

"Yes, sir." The soldier was visibly relieved.

Luo ZhouZhou heard the clatter of boots again, which then trotted neatly away.

"Hold out your hands." Chu Feng said softly as the surroundings quieted down.

Luo ZhouZhou gave him a tearful glance. Although he didn't know what the man was going to do, he reached out his right hand and spread it out in front of Chu Feng. With a click, a shiny metal ring was placed around his wrist.

It was cold and hard, a handcuff.

"Let's go." Chu Feng held the other end and took off down the street.

Luo ZhouZhou stumbled over from the tug and hurried to catch up.

A short distance away, a black patrol car was parked on the side of the street, its doors wide open and the red light on its roof still flashing. It was obvious that Chu Feng had just jumped out of this car and grabbed him.

Chu Feng's leather boots pounded on the hard ground, his handcuffs in one hand, the other in the pocket of his dark blue uniform pants.

His pace was unhurried.

Luo ZhouZhou stopped his tears and looked at him from the back, an angle from which he could only see the sharp side of the man’s face and the high bridge of his nose. His eyes were hidden in the shadow of the brim of his military cap, making it difficult to see them clearly.

Chu Feng seemed to have sensed his line of sight and looked his way.

When Luo ZhouZhou saw him about to turn his head, he quickly shifted his sight again and looked down at his feet. He had no shoes, his feet were bare, and his long pants were dragging on the ground.

The good thing was that the ground was clean, so it didn't hurt, but the soles of his feet were a little cold.

"An Omega running around in the middle of the night and charging through checkpoints. Where are your parents?"

Although Chu Feng's voice wasn't as cold as in the beginning, and had a calm casualness to it, Luo ZhouZhou didn't want to answer any of his questions. Chu Feng didn't seem to care about his silence and continued to walk unhurriedly, leading him to the patrol car.

Luo ZhouZhou stood still beside the car and looked at him.

"Get in." Chu Feng pulled open the back door and tilted his head at him.

Luo ZhouZhou had no other choice but to get in the back door, and had just sat down when his right hand was pulled up with a click, and the other end of the handcuffs was fastened to the handle above the door.

Luo ZhouZhou panicked. He didn't know where Chu Feng was taking him, but he didn't want to ask. He hated this man now, this man who had seen his cowardice and timidity and forced him to cry out of control.

But this man held his biggest secret, and Luo ZhouZhou hated and feared him at the same time.

Chu Feng opened the driver's door, got in and started the car, made a U-turn, and drove down the street.

"Kid, where is your house? I'll send you back." Chu Feng asked.

"I don't have a home." Luo ZhouZhou noticed that his vehicle was headed back to the Aleisha checkpoint and said quietly, "You take me there, and I'll run away again."

"Really?" As the moving car slowly came to a stop, Chu Feng seemed to think about it, then turned the car around and went forward again.

Luo ZhouZhou breathed a small sigh of relief as he bypassed his dangling right hand and looked out the half-open window of the car.

There were more and more lights and houses on both sides, and it was clear that they had entered the center of the Bayard. The streets were beginning to become crowded, filled with pedestrians. The black patrol car moved slowly, its windows reflecting the colorful neon signs.

Luo ZhouZhou pressed his face against the glass.

He saw a young woman with bright red hair and scantily clad clothes standing on the street smoking. He saw a small barber shop with people leaning back on chairs with white foam on their chins. Three or five men were sitting under a tree drinking and around them children were chasing each other. In front of a nightclub, a few men in black suits watched their patrol car vigilantly.

Different pop music was playing in various storefronts, and there was a lot of noise everywhere.

Luo ZhouZhou was watching with rapt attention and excitement.

This was Bayard of the Tylen Alliance.

Bayard, filled with noise and crowds, even at night, could contain his freedom.

Chu Feng pressed down on the car door, and the window Luo ZhouZhou was clinging to began to rise. He hurriedly put his head back, separating his face from the dark glass, leaving a white condensation mark on it.

The window was closed tightly, separating him from the noise outside, like splitting two worlds.

"Kid, you want some candy?" The driver's seat made a rustling, a cellophane- like sound.

Chu Feng gripped the steering wheel with one hand and fished out a few small things from the glove compartment from the front of the car with the other, looking straight ahead.

It seemed that Chu Feng's attitude had softened a bit since he was caught crying.

Luo ZhouZhou didn't answer him, still facing the car window, indifferently wondering if he had taken his remorseful crying as a plea for mercy.

When Chu Feng heard no answer, he didn't ask any more questions, peeled the paper off a piece of candy himself, and threw it into his mouth.

Luo ZhouZhou listened to the candy rolling around in his mouth and the sound of it colliding with his teeth, and turned his head to glare at the back of his head with hatred.

When he moved his sight, he spotted a pair of eyes in the rearview mirror looking directly at him.

Off-street lights illuminated the car. Beneath the lowered brim of his hat, those deep brown eyes, with a hint of carelessness, were looking straight ahead. As if sensing his line of sight, those eyes also looked into the rearview mirror and met his.

Luo ZhouZhou quickly turned away from him.

After driving for a while, the car slowly stopped. Chu Feng turned off the engine, opened the driver's door and got out. Then, the rear door opened, and with a click, the right hand was dropped and the handcuffs were removed.

Chu Feng held the handcuffs with one hand, leaned on top of the door with the other, lowered his body, and said, "Let's go.”

Luo ZhouZhou was pulled out of the car by the handcuffs and found them parked at the bottom of a flight of steps. A metal square with hot-stamped letters on the wall on one side of the stairs read: Bayard Police Department.

Inside the police station, it was late at night so most of the people were off duty, and only a dozen or so people were still busy.

When Chu Feng walked through the door, holding Luo ZhouZhou's handcuffs, all those people looked up and then stood straight and saluted. "General Chu Feng."

Chu Feng nodded lightly and asked, "Where is Chen SiHan?"

"The sheriff is in his office." A policeman answered immediately. When Chu Feng didn't answer, he smartly ran out the side doorway to inform someone.

As the others stood still, Chu Feng yanked the handcuffs forward and pulled Luo ZhouZhou out from behind him.

"Someone take over and record his information." Chu Feng looked to a female police officer, the only Omega among the officers, "He’s a small fugitive who ran away from home to break through the checkpoint."

Luo ZhouZhou had been hiding behind Chu Feng ever since he entered the police station. He had never been inside a police station before, but knew to hide from them. Now that the eyes of a room full of people were on him, he shrank back restlessly and tried to hide again.

He took one step back and couldn’t go any further. Chu Feng didn't look at him, but the silver handcuffs were tugged tightly in his hands, and Luo ZhouZhou could only force himself to take a step. Luo ZhouZhou had to take it upon himself not to look at anyone, but only at the coffee machine in the corner of the room.

Only his toes, which were covered by his pants, were curled up and clasped against the cold tile floor.

The policewoman smiled, then hurried forward to take the handcuffs and took Luo ZhouZhou aside.

"What? Halfway through your patrol, your gland patch came off again?" With the sound of footsteps, a tall man came through the side door and looked at Chu Feng with a smile. He wore a sharp sheriff's uniform, but wore glasses, his appearance polished and sharp at the same time.

He was probably the sheriff named Chen SiHan.

Luo ZhouZhou then looked at Chu Feng. It was the first time tonight that he was in the light and got a good frontal view of the man's face. He had a young face, with sharp features and a low hat that covered his forehead, revealing only his slanted eyebrows and dark brown eyes.

Luo ZhouZhou had to admit that the man was annoying, but good-looking.

"Fine, let's get a new one." He saw Chu Feng smile at Chen SiHan, then step forward.

They seemed to know each other very well.

"Come on, let's take off the beard, we'll take pictures." The policewoman beside him said softly, reaching out to remove Luo ZhouZhou's beard, which was hanging on the side of his cheek.

Chu Feng suddenly stopped and said, "Wait." Then he turned toward Luo ZhouZhou.

Luo ZhouZhou looked at Chu Feng nervously with a straight face.

Chu Feng put one hand around his chest and stroked his chin with the other, half-smiling. He said to the policewoman. "Don't take off the beard, just take them like this."
