The Strongest Sect of All Times

Chapter 34: the heavens seem to be smiling on me!

How could Jun Changxiao not want to teach his disciples personally? His own cultivation was only Meridian Opening Stage Ten, while his understanding of the martial way was rudimentary.

Without experience or cultivation, he could only depend on the Strongest Sect System — but the damned thing had conditions that limited purchasing power, so he was temporarily unable to purchase the Insight Talisman.

“Sigh.”

Jun Changxiao sat cross-legged in his room, rubbing his temples. “I can only let the senior and second disciples teach the others for now. After I buy the Insight Talisman, then I can direct them personally.”

The next day.

Dawn.

Li Qingyang brought them male disciples to cultivate in the training ground. Since their cultivation levels were only stage 2 or 3, most of the training was on martial foundations.

Shortly, Lu Qianqian — who stood out like an unearthly celestial, as she was the only one wearing white — brought the 20 or so female disciples down to the field. Since the color of her uniform had been changed, her frosty look seemed to have melted a few degrees.

The daily training had been handed to the two disciples.

The great Sect Head Jun sat in the inner court, boredly scrolling through the system. He saw that the sect missions still had not shown up and complained, “System, when the hell will these missions be issued?”

[Wait], the system cleanly and directly said.

Jun Changxiao was speechless. He could only revolve the Mind-Cleansing Art and absorb the spirit power between heaven and earth, condensing spirit energy.

He still had 50 contribution points, but he wasn’t planning to exchange them any time soon. No, these were saved for emergency usage.

“Sect Head.”

Suddenly, Li Qingyang walked inside.

“Does our sect have a unique core technique?”

“We do, the Qi Condensing Art,” Jun Changxiao said.

Li Qingyang grimaced slightly. “The Qi Condensing Art is a popular core technique, how can I make junior brothers cultivate that?”

“You’re right.”

Jun Changxiao started to think. Should he write down the Mind-Cleansing Art and make the disciples cultivate it?

No, no.

That was a core technique cultivated by the Azure Mountain Sect’s elder. Bringing that out as a sect technique was first of all improper, but it would also not be unique to the sect.

Shua!

Jun Changxiao opened the system interface and clicked on the system store. Since the store has martial skills like the Nine Heavy Collapsing Fist, it should also have core techniques, right?

Unfortunately, after he opened the store, besides the Nine Heavy Collapsing Fist, there was no core technique in sight.

“What to do…”

Jun Changxiao was immediately disheartened.

The system reminded him, [Host can pull down on the panel; old commodities will be substituted by new ones.]

“There’s a refresh function?”

Jun Changxiao was excited and was just about to pull down on the panel.

The system reminded, [Refreshing once will automatically deduct 10 contribution points, may the host carefully consider.]

“…”

Jun Changxiao felt the corner of his mouth twitching.

No wonder this guy gently reminded him, this was a paid function!

What to do?

To draw or not to draw?

Jun Changxiao was torn because the present items weren’t bad.

For example, there was the preliminary-grade Insight Talisman and the Aptitude Transformation Fluid. Once he refreshed, these items would definitely disappear.

The system said, [The host can relax. Every item that has been purchased will be added to the {Purchased Items} list, meaning that they may be purchased even after a list refresh.]

“Is that so?”

Jun Changxiao was joyful.

Naturally, he understood that underneath the system’s careful explanation was only one goal: to make him spend points!

Ah, let’s do it as you want.

With a thought, Jun Changxiao pulled down on the panel, only to see that the original items immediately vanished, replaced by a brand-new list of items.

[Ding! Sect Contribution: 40/100.]

Jun Changxoa not only spent 10 contribution points, but to the right of the store panel appeared a {Purchased Items} button.

With a click, previously purchased items like the Healing Pill and other goods were completely listed. But most of them were still gray in color — obviously, the list refresh did not mean that the time limit was also refreshed.

Jun Changxiao clicked back to the store and carefully examined the new items.

After a refresh, the new items were varied. Still, most were preliminary-grade items, making them 10 contribution points.

As he scrolled downwards, the great Sect Head Jun felt his heart growing colder and colder — even after refreshing, let alone a rare core technique, there wasn’t even a martial skill!

It’s over, it’s over.

10 contribution points have been wasted.

If this was how it was going to be, I might as well have exchanged those 10 points for something of use like the Cold Edge Sword.

“Huh?”

While scrolling, Jun Changxiao discovered this yellowed and tattered booklet. On it was written the words ‘Tendon Altering Sutra’.

“This thing?!”

According to his understanding, in the wuxia novels he used to read, the Tendon Altering Sutra was one of the Shaolin’s rarest martial arts books. For the system store to have it was simply inconceivable! [1]

Now, if he was able to refresh a Karabiner 98k, that would be even better.

With a thought, he clicked on the item.

[Item: Tendon Altering Sutra

Description: One of the two classics left behind after the Dharma founder faced a wall in Mount Song.

Function: Will improve muscle and bone structure, unblock meridians, temper the will, and strengthen the physical body.

Advantage: For Meridian Opening stage martial artists, cultivating this will not only improve the physical body, but the success of opening meridians will reach 50%!

Disadvantage: Limited to use by cultivators of the Meridian Opening Realm.

Price: 10 contribution points

Rank: Divine-Grade Basic Core Technique]

Seeing the last line, which had the ranking, Jun Changxiao was astonished. He subconsciously patted himself on the face. In disbelief, he murmured, “The Tendon Altering Sutra is… divine-grade basic core technique?”

He thought he misread it.

But it really said ‘divine-grade basic’.

According to the divisions on Falling Star Continent, the Tendon Altering Sutra would definitely belong to be comparable to divine-grade intermediate and advanced core techniques!

“My god!”

Determining that he did not have presbyopia, Jun Changxiao nearly leapt out of his seat.

10 contribution points to refresh out a divine-grade basic Tendon Altering Sutra core technique — that was terrifying!

The system was unable to continue watching and said, [The host’s luck is really good. This divine-grade core technique has a less than 1% appearance probability.]

“Hahaha!”

Jun CHangxiao raised his head to laugh, roaring to himself, This luck, the Heavens seem to be smiling on me! [2]

What am I waiting for?

Definitely buy! Buy! Buy!

With a thought, Sect Head Jun clicked on the Tendon Altering Sutra, choosing to purchase the item without an ounce of hesitation.

[Ding! The host has spent 10 contribution points, obtaining Tendon Altering Sutra x1. The item has been transported to the storage ring.]

[Ding! Sect Contribution: 30/100.]

Jun Changxiao quickly integrated into the storage ring, grabbing the rare Tendon Altering Sutra booklet. He exclaimed, “If I successfully cultivate this, the chances of successfully opening a meridian will reach 50%; absolutely a divine-level core technique!”

For the first stage of the martial path on Falling Star Continent, what was the most difficult? Of course it was opening the meridians!

The original master of this body, after entering Meridian Opening Stage Two, he had challenged Stage Three. However, he was stopped time and time again, dying before he could open the third meridian.

But as long as one cultivated the Tendon Altering Sutra, even those with poor aptitude still had a 50-50 chance of opening a meridian!

The great Sect Head Jun wished that he could immediately cultivate the Tendon Altering Sutra. With it, he wouldn’t need to depend upon exchanging contribution points, he could directly use spirit energy to clash against the unopened meridian!

[1] The Tendon Altering Sutra (Yi-Jin-Jing, 易筋经) is a famous kung fu from the Shaolin Temple. Chinese author Jin Yong features the scripture in two of his famous novels, The Smiling, Proud Wanderer and Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils. According to legend, the scripture was left behind by Bodhidharma after his stay at the Shaolin Monastery — he supposedly sat and faced the wall there for nine years until reaching enlightenment.

[2] He actually says something else, but it doesn’t quite translate: ‘my luck is so good i’ve turned from african to european’. (Those with bad luck are “black” or “blackened”, while those with good luck are “shining” and “white”.)
