As soon as Wen Fan saw the words ‘ten seconds’, he instantly reacted and quickly cut off the WIFI connection, but to no avail. The mobile phone’s desktop instantly turned into an update reminder status. As a mobile system, Wen Fan suddenly sees everything in front of him became pitch black and he could no longer see the program panels around him or have control the phone.

The QQ Penguin, Meituan Kangaroo, and everybody from the game APPs had disappeared.

Wen Fan opened his mouth to scream Lou Wei’s name, but he couldn’t hear his voice from the speaker.

It seems like he was completely enclosed in a dark confined space. He lowered his head but he couldn’t even see his own body.

And just like this, ten seconds passed. Wen Fan suddenly felt himself bring forcefully wrapped in a soft thin film with visibility of fewer than two meters.

The film was soft to the touch and wasn’t offensive. But no matter how much Wen Fan tossed and turned, he couldn’t tear it apart. He could only allow himself to be firmly wrapped in it, as if he was stuffed into a container, and was about to seal off.

This dark and enclosed environment is undoubtedly frightening. Wen Fan felt that the current situation he was in was far more frightening than the time he was taken away by Lin Xiu. The complete powerlessness, with no means to save himself, was awfully familiar.

He struggled to break free from the film, but that film was actually more sturdy than tempered glass. It didn’t budge even after he tried to hit it with all his might.

What should he do?

Wen Fan wanted to think carefully about how to save himself, but there is no way for him to calm down in such an oppressive atmosphere.

 Moreover-

There is nowhere for him to escape and he doesn’t even know where he is now.

Wen Fan even had a vague feeling that he…may no longer be on Lou Wei’s phone screen.

————

Lou Wei had a habit of taking a glance at his phone before the start of a meeting.

But today, after he entered the conference room and took a glance at the screen, he noticed that the phone screen was blacked out.

At first, he thought that Wen Fan must be asleep again, but when he clicked on the screen, he didn’t see the lock screen but saw the software update interface instead.

Lou Wei clicked on the update page but it simply won’t return to the desktop at all.

A bad feeling washed over him immediately.

The result was as he expected.

The phone immediately performed an automatic restart after the update when Lou Wei sat down at the table in the conference room.

The restart process was slow and challenging. It took more than half an hour.

In this half an hour time, the company’s representative took turns to provide updates on their current progress while Lou Wei, who sat in the front with a hideous expression.

The employees looked at each other and wondered if something had gone wrong with the company.

And after half an hour, Lou Wei checked his desktop after the restart-

It’s empty.

All the apps have returned to their former ‘original’ state. They were tiled quietly on the desktop, motionless.

And…

Wen Fan was not on the desktop.

Lou Wei’s eyes twitched. The strong jolt of panic made him leaped from his seat and everyone looked at him nervously.

“Well done. All of you had provided a very detailed update in the meeting. The meeting shall end here. Adjourned!”

Lou Wei quickly got up and left after he finished his words. He walked very quickly and called Wen Fan name in a low voice. The other employees looked at Lou Wei as if they had seen a ghost. They all sensed that something was wrong. Zhao Mengke and Lin Xiao who walked out of the conference room with Lou Wei exchanged glances and ran after Lou Wei.

They watched as Lou Wei hurried back to his office and took a glance at the both of them before closing the door with a ‘slam’.

Zhao Mengke, who was shut outside, was stunned. He elbowed Lin Xiao, “Did my eyes play tricks on me just now? Wei-ge’s eyes were…a little red?”

Lin Xiao was also in shock. He blinked as he came back to his senses, “…it seems like it.”

The moment Lou Wei stepped into his office, he rummaged through all the APPs shelves. An unprecedented fear instantly enveloped him. When he returned to his desk, he carefully connected his mobile phone to the Internet. When his fingertips touched the tabletop, he realized that his hands and feet were ice cold.

But this was nothing compared to the fear he felt in his heart.

Since he was young, Lou Wei never found it frightening at the time when his parents were divorced or even when he knew that he had to take care of his younger sister like a daughter. But this is the only time that he felt so powerless.

He quickly called the company that customized his mobile phone and asked for relevant update information on his mobile phone. He was already talking a little incoherently, “The mobile phone, why is it that the APPs on the desktop disappeared after the update?!” Lou Wei almost asked about what happened to the disappearance of the anthropomorphic system on his mobile phone.

The person in charge of the mobile phone company was confused. Nowadays, a lot of big bosses’ mobile phones were privately customized by the mobile phone manufacturers with a special privacy program protection system. And every boss who has customized their mobile phone was in the company’s record. The customer service representative knows that it is Lou Wei calling by looking at the caller ID. And furthermore, the name Lou Wei is very well known now.

“Mr. Lou, are you meaning to say that…the Compagnon character on your desktop disappeared?” The male customer service said softly, “If it is a virtual character of Compagnon, it will be displayed again after restarting the Compagnon software.”

Lou Wei, “…”

That person’s suggestion was not very constructive. Lou Wei thanked him and hung up the phone immediately. But the person’s suggestion gave him a good idea. Lou Wei clicked the floating ball system button again and entered the system’s interface. Surely enough, he saw that the status on the settings page showed that it was ‘Off’.

Lou Wei took a deep breath and couldn’t stop his fingertip from shaking when he pressed it on the screen. He couldn’t imagine what would happen if Wen Fan didn’t appear after he switched it to ‘On’.

He could only tell himself that even if Wen Fan didn’t appear, he had to stay calm.

Keeping that in mind, Lou Wei reached out and turned the system to ‘On’——
