Only God knew how painful it was for her, as an adult, to read ‘A-E-I-O-U’ and ‘one times one is one’ off the pinyin and multiplication tables every day. She could only pretend to be exceptionally gifted and quickly finish the elementary school second-grade textbook.

She thought that she was finally done with the studies, but who would have thought that Jin Yang was really serious about this endeavor and had gone to the Points Hall to exchange for textbooks for the next few grades. She got a headache when she saw the familiar word tracing boxes and pinyin.

Yin Yiliu stood in front of the sofa, looked up at Jin Yang pitifully, and tried to negotiate with him, “I don’t want to learn this. I don’t even need to go to school, and I don’t have to take exams…”

“No,” Jin Yang flatly refused, completely destroying the last bit of Yin Yiliu’s hope.

“Be a good girl and repeat after me: Before my bed is a pool of moonlight…”1

Jin Yang clearly had an abstinent, cold, and handsome face, and he was even dressed in camouflage hiking wear, but he was pointing line by line at the words on a children’s book with his slender fingers while reading the fairy tales aloud with a very serious expression, making the people around him feel that like their world views were overturned.

At least, that was the case for Zhao Sihui, who saw such a sight as she walked past the living room with the dishes in her hand.

Jin Yang read the storybook expressionlessly, then asked Yin Yiliu beside him, “Why doesn’t Little Piggy play with Little Lamb anymore?”

The little girl played with the small buns on her head with a ‘I’m so done with life’ face, and said with a sullen mouth, “Because Little Lamb stole its cake.”

The combination of the two of them asking and answering was very comical. Every time she saw something like this, she was surprised that someone like Jin Yang had this sort of side to him.

Yin Yiliu really didn’t want to hear any more stories about little pigs and lambs fighting. She was about to die of depression when the doorbell rang.

As if she heard the arrival of her savior, she leapt to her feet and dashed to the door. “I’ll open the door! I’ll open the door!”

The little girl reached for the door handle on tiptoe and opened it with a click. Before she could see who the visitor was, a short boy in front of her bowed and apologized repeatedly.

“I’m sorry for being a little late.”

Yin Yiliu couldn’t see the boy’s face with his head down, but she thought his voice sounded a little familiar. Judging by his size, he should still be a child.

A big hand behind her gently held her by the shoulders and pulled her behind him. When she looked up, she saw Jin Yang’s side profile.

Zhao Sihui poked her head out of the kitchen and said, “Is that Blackie’s dinner? You’re indeed running a little late today.”

When the boy heard what Zhao Sihui said, his head was lowered even more.

Jin Yang noticed a large piece of raw meat wrapped in tinfoil lying in the corner and asked the wolf pup in the yard to get its food. The boy who kept his head down felt relieved only after he motioned for him to take out his points card.

It seemed that the customer this time was an understanding person and had no intention of deducting his points.

He took the points card from his crumpled pocket, looked up, and was shocked to see Jin Yang’s face. He couldn’t help but exclaim, “Big Bro Jin Yang?”

Jin Yang raised a brow and looked at the child’s dirty face. Who was this?

On the other hand, Yin Yiliu, who had been standing by the side, looked carefully at the boy in front of her before she finally recognized him. Wasn’t this Fu Ming, the boy who had given them a tour of the base at the price of a piece of a bun when they first arrived?

A few minutes later, Fu Ming cautiously entered their house.

When Zhao Qiyang heard the commotion at the door, he limped over to the door to take a look and grinned. After obtaining Jin Yang’s consent, he invited Fu Ming to come in and sit down.

It was because the child was in a miserable state. The clothes on his body were tattered, his face was drenched in sweat, his cheeks were flushed to the point of turning purplish, and his skinny chest heaved up and down rapidly as he gasped for breath.

After obtaining their permission, Fu Ming was able to properly wash his face in the bathroom. His face was finally fully revealed, and he sat shyly on the stool.

“Thank you Big Bro Jin Yang, Sis Zhao, and Bro Zhao.”

Zhao Qiyang had a favorable impression of this smart and slick boy, so he was happy to see him again. He teased, “Why are you a deliveryman and not a tour guide this time?”

Fu Ming rubbed his own head, grinned, and said, “The tour guide field has too many wolves and too little meat, and they were squeezing me out anyway, so I simply quit and decided to work as an errand boy at the Points Hall.”

When he took over this job, he thought that he could earn more points with such a big order, but he overestimated his physical strength. It was really difficult to run through half of the base while carrying dozens of kilograms of raw meat.

Fortunately, the customer this time was Team Morning Sun.

The Zhao siblings and Yin Yiliu were quite fond of Fu Ming. Jin Yang always had the same indifferent attitude towards outsiders. He quietly sat in a corner and read the plan distributed by the higher-ups today, but he darted subtle glances their way from time to time.

The little girl kept laughing at Fu Ming’s words, and Jin Yang suddenly wondered if he should find Yin Yiliu some friends her age. The child was too lonely being home alone.

The thought only lingered for a moment before another fleeting unpleasantness in his heart made him dismiss the idea.

P/N: I’m taking this unpleasantness as the feeling of the cabbage you diligently raised being stolen by a pig type of vibes
