Among the three people who had barged into the Jin house: Ma Feizhang had died, Ma Feiteng severely injured his ape arm and was forced to transform back into human form, leaving only the ordinary person, Xiao Xue, who stood there sobbing.

She sneaked a peek at Jin Yang who was aiming his gun at her with an emotionless expression. Her legs were shaking and her tears flowed, but Jin Yang was not the sympathetic type. Not only did he show no sign of mercy, he started getting impatient.

“Drag him out. If I see him again, he will not get away so easily.”

Jin Yang’s cold voice made Xiao Xue shudder.

She looked at the unconscious Ma Feiteng. There were three lacerations on his chest and a really deep wound on his arm. How was a weak woman like herself supposed to survive alone in the outside world, let alone while also taking care of a severely wounded guy?

She thought of winning over the handsome man with her tears. She wanted to follow him, but she dared not make a move when there was a black gun pointing at her. In the end, she grabbed Ma Feiteng, dragging him by his collar, and left the place.

Before she left, Xiao Xue was threatened by Jin Yang to debrief him on the current situation of the outside world. Fearing he would shoot her, she racked her brains trying to recount in detail. Through her words, Jin Yang and Yin Yiliu were able to gradually figure out the situation.

According to her there was chaos everywhere. There were dangers of being attacked by fierce mutated animals everywhere and most of the human race had not gone through mutation, so they could only hide.

The Ma brothers had initially relied on their mutated abilities to loot the supermarkets in the city, but on the fourth day of the apocalypse, the military arrived. They were the 8th Special Forces Unit, who had ample resources, ammunition and skilled personnel. The Ma Brothers were no match against them, so they fled towards the outskirts and broke into the Jin family’s villa.

The official statement released by the military only stated that the recent events — which was widely known as the “apocalypse” — was caused by the evolutions of different species. It was unclear whether the military simply did not know more or if they were deliberately concealing the truth.

Yin Yiliu suspected it was the latter.

After all, in the face of disasters, most of the population would fall into panic. The military could only say so in order to avoid unnecessary upheaval.

If she had not known that this was the apocalypse novel she read before, she, too, would not have guessed the truth.

But what was certain was that as the evolutions continued, all kinds of mutated animals would be encountered and unpredictable disasters would befall them in the future.

Their city did not have a well developed shelter so the military distributed survival booklets to everyone who was nearby at that time. Xiao Xue had one, and it fell into Jin Yang’s hands.

The booklet listed out some survival tips, action plans from the military, as well as the size, strength and distribution of all the shelter bases nearby. One of the pages stated the three options offered by the military:

The first option offered was to follow the majority of the soldiers and head north. They would be travelling to City B, the capital of the country, where the country’s central forces were. After all, the capital was where the strongest troops in the country would gather. The journey would be a long one. The military would try their best to ensure everyone’s safety along the way, but the people had to seek out their own food. Luck would play a big part in deciding whether or not one could reach City B.

The second option was to stay. The military had plans of leaving some of their soldiers here to build a shelter. For those who were unwilling to leave, they could choose to stay in the city.

The third option was to travel by themselves; an option for those who did not want to follow the military northbound or stay in the city. For these people, the military provided the locations of the biggest shelter bases around the country.

The people who chose the first option would leave with the military the next day at noon.

After reading up to this part, Jin Yang got lost in his thoughts.

At the moment, heading northbound to City B seemed to be the best option, because it was where the military leaders were located, the safety level should be the highest in the country.

However, one thing he had learnt from his years of working in the business industry was the cruelty of social struggle, especially when the law was in disrepair. Life would be hard for those without power.

Besides the unpredictable dangers on the road, and with so many people following the military northbound, conflict was bound to occur.

While he…

Jin Yang looked at his sore legs and chuckled. It was impossible for him to follow the military in his current state.

The journey to City B would be too unpredictable. It would take them forever to reach their destination. On the other hand, there were too few people who would choose to stay. He did not have high hopes for the survival base here. For the time being, it had seemed like travelling by themselves was the best option for him and his little rabbit.

He glanced at the rabbit who was swaying its ears, and pinched its chubby little cheek.

The rabbit’s space had become their biggest advantage. No one else could know about this, otherwise there would be endless trouble.

Jin Yang promptly circled on a location on the map, City Z, after reading through the information provided by the booklet.

City Z, which was the central region of Province H, had one of the biggest shelter bases in the country at the moment.

According to the booklet, at the beginning of the apocalypse, the people in power showed foresight and started the foundation of the shelter, and now, a very well developed operating system has been established there.

City Z was around 700km away, which was half of the distance to City B. After considering factors like distance and reputation, Jin Yang decided that City Z was the best alternative to City B.

After determining their destination, Jin Yang took out a compass from his backpack and started to plan out their route. They should move along the city borders and search for more food supplies along the way. The city borders had lower population rates, so there should be less conflicts.

Yin Yiliu hopped on the table and stayed quietly by Jin Yang’s side, watching him while he drew lines on the map. It was rare that she did not disturb him, but she knew that he was deciding on their future plans.

She did not know what Jin Yang’s final decision was, but she knew that they would never follow the military to City B. In the novel, the ones who had followed the 8th Unit were the male and female leads.

The male and female leads developed feelings for each other in the midst of trials and hardships. With the female lead’s predictions, the male lead managed to escape from danger with his teammates, and the crack between him and his fiancée grew larger. He realized the one he loved was the female lead, while his evil fiancée and her family who had attempted to stop them from getting together died horrible deaths on the road.

Without obstruction from his fiancée, the male and female leads were able to jump the last hurdle and finally got together. The both of them, along with their teammates, shone brightly in City B.

Villain Jin Yang only met the leads in City B, which meant Jin Yang must have been travelling by himself.

While Jin Yang was deciding on the route, he noticed the little rabbit beside him was staring at him with her red bunny eyes. He wrapped the end of his pen with its pink ears and chuckled when it scratched its ears and face using its little paws.

He was really curious to know what this rabbit was thinking. Why did it take care of him and follow him? Was it because he was its owner?

The author has something to say: Yin Yiliu: You think too much, I followed you purely because of my mission…

*****

Lots of you cuties were curious why Jin Yang didn’t go to find his sister first. First of all, in the beginning of the apocalypse, the network was down for the entire country, so our male lead couldn’t contact her. He was also unable to confirm how it was in the outside world. Secondly, his sister was in the capital, the safest place in the country. Also, our male lead had complicated feelings towards his family. It will all be revealed later. Thank you everyone for bearing with Zhu-zi / Bamboo-ie *takes a bow*
