By the time Jin Yang drove his car to the city square, there were already dozens of cars parked there. At first glance, the entire square was full of survivors from the city. It was a spectacular sight.

But on second thought, these were the only people left in the city. Others were either deceased or had already escaped elsewhere.

Everyone’s attention was drawn to the SUV as soon as it entered the square. Yin Yiliu sat on the dashboard, staring out the window at the survivors.

Most people were battered, exhausted, and depressed, but they remained vigilant. They huddled together to form a bundle of small groups of their own, but still far apart from each other.

Several people got out of Jin Yang’s car and dragged the two mutated dogs away with them. The crowd stared at them even more fervently.

During the early stages of the apocalypse, people were still struggling to adapt from having proper meals everyday to having barely anything to eat.

Since the mutation of animals all over the world, humans went from predator to prey.

Ordinary people without weapons could only hide in this square, while waiting for the sparse amount of relief food provided by the military every day.

Whoever was dissatisfied with the current treatment could also choose to leave the shelter. There were many evolved people outside who were unwilling to be controlled by the military. But their situation only worsened after they left.

“Thanks friend, I’ll pass you some dog broth later.”

“Your car is great. It’s perfect for times like these.” Wang Zhengjie jumped out of the car and patted the car seat admiringly. “You should find a place to park first. The people who are planning to leave are gathered in this square. You know the Financial Building, right? There are more people over there, all of whom are unwilling to leave and intend to stay at the base here.”

Upon hearing this, Yin Yiliu exhaled a sigh of relief. It would be too depressing if there were only so few survivors left in the city.

After the men dragged the dogs away, Jin Yang parked his car on an empty spot at the outer part of the square. There was a family of three making their bed on the floor in front of Jin Yang’s car. After seeing the SUV parked in front of them, the middle-aged couple pulled the dirty thick clothes on the ground closer towards themselves.

“Come closer Miao Miao.”

There was a young girl in the family. She was quite pretty, but her clothes and hair were dirty. Her eyes lit up when she saw the car. She tiptoed and peered into the car through the window.

The window was made of reflective material so all she could see was the vague silhouette of a man.

After Jin Yang parked the car, he began to look around.

Obviously, the current survivors had already been through a number of ordeals, some from mutated animals, some from evolved people and even some from the people around them.

Everyone was on guard and kept their distance from one another, and they were all paying extra attention to Jin Yang.

Because his SUV stood out too much.

Suddenly, a small hand knocked on his car window hesitantly.

Jin Yang glanced down and noticed the top of a little boy’s head. He wasn’t worried that this was part of any conspiracy. They were at a well managed military base.

He rolled the window down a little and asked, “What’s the matter?”

Yin Yiliu heard them and jumped onto Jin Yang’s lap, attempting to climb up by grabbing on his shirt.

Jin Yang picked her up and placed her on his shoulder. Her warm and white fur against his skin made him look like he was wearing a white scarf.

The child outside was too short. He could not see Jin Yang’s face at all. His body trembled when he heard Jin Yang’s cold voice. But remembering his mother, he mustered the courage to ask, “Hello sir, could you please give me some water? I…I can run errands for you! I will remember your kindness! If I come across any food or drinks later, I will definitely give them to you!”

When Yin Yiliu listened to the voice, she thought that the child sounded very young. Standing on Jin Yang’s shoulder, she leaned against the window and peered outside. She saw a dirty little face that appeared to be around eight or nine years old.

During normal times, children like this should have been the treasures of their families. They should be going to school, instead of desperately begging outside a car window.

Yin Yiliu didn’t show kindness and did not take water out of her space straight away. It’s the apocalypse now. People would fight for even a sip of water.

She decided to wait and see how Jin Yang would react.

Jin Yang remained unmoved. He asked nonchalantly, “Why should I believe you? And why should I help you?”

The little boy’s heart sank, and his eyes went red. He was still a child after all. He wiped his tears with the back of his dirty hands and cried, “Please, my mother is sick. We don’t have any more water huhuhu…”

He had begged all over the square today, hoping that someone would give him a sip of water. But he was shoved and shunned. Even if there were any good-hearted people, their families would have stopped them from helping him.

He was terrified of everyone here, as well as the big cats and dogs outside. He really wanted to save his mother, so when he saw this big car, he had his hopes up.

He was wiping his tears with despair when the car window rolled down a little, and a bottle of water was thrown out. It made a gurgling sound as it rolled on the floor.

The boy’s eyes widened. He let out a hiccup in surprise before picking up the water bottle on the ground.

“Thank you! Thank you very much!”

Yin Yiliu looked at the child running towards a woman who was lying down nearby. He showed her the water bottle and pointed to their car. Yin Yiliu sighed in her heart.

This was only the beginning of the apocalypse. Life would only be harder in the future.

Many people witnessed this scene. The people in the square stared at the water bottle in the childs’ hands. The boy, who had a tear-stained and dirty face, carefully fed the water to his mother.

The people had not completely thrown away their conscience yet, so no one did anything heinous, such as snatching the bottle away from the child.

It would be hard to say how long this would last.

The woman was very sick. She seemed to have a fever; her lips were chapped and her face was flushed. Fortunately, her complexion improved after she drank some water. There was still some water remaining. She tightened the cap and kept the water bottle close to her body before hugging her child tightly.

She was aware that everyone was watching them, so she placed her lips near her son’s ear and whispered, “Remember that man’s generosity.”

While women are weak, mothers are powerful. Her husband was killed by a mutated animal. If she died as well, her son would not make it through the apocalypse.

The military truck was parked in the innermost part of the square. At the time, the two mutated dogs had been divided into many pieces and cooked in several large pots over fire in the hall.

" "

Wang Zhengjie and two of his comrades delivered two large bowls of dog meat to the people in the military truck.

There were a lot of people in the truck, some of whom were dressed in the same military uniform, while the rest were the evolved people they had recruited.

A young man standing on top of the military truck jumped down and blew a whistle.

“What a good guy.”

His eyes were slightly protruding, like a pair of goldfish eyes. Then they gradually transformed back to the shape of normal human eyes. His eyes were similar to Jin Yang’s, with the same animal-type mutation that allowed them to see from dozens of metres away.

Since the apocalypse started, these people had fared reasonably well thanks to their evolved abilities. They were later recruited by the military and planned to travel north together. The goldfish-eyed man was one of them. His vision was the best among them.

As soon as the SUV arrived at the square, he had set his eyes on the vehicle and started to observe them. After he saw the person in the car actually give the child a bottle of water, he jokingly told the rest of the people in the truck.

“Hmph! In times like these, good guys die fast!”

The passengers in the truck were divided into several groups. Several soldiers formed a group, and the evolved people came from different groups as well. There were only about three or four women.

Among them, one group of people stood out the most. They were led by a man and two women in clean clothes and outstanding looks, surrounded by their teammates.

One of the women had a gorgeous but impatient face, clinging to the man’s arm. While the other was calm and reserved like a little white flower.

He was so blessed to have such contrastingly beautiful women beside him!

Rumour had it that this young man was the son of the Xiang family, one of the most powerful families in the city before the apocalypse. As a result, he was surrounded by a large number of people, including bodyguards, a butler, and even a special forces soldier.

However, for some reason, these people were very respectful towards the charming woman in the group.

Even the military leaders had previously spoken with her privately. People from the other teams inquired and found out that the woman was a prophet.

They called her a prophet because she could predict the future. All her predictions had come true so far, hence everyone treated her with respect.

The Goldfish-eyed Man went back to his seat beside the young man and said, “Bro Xiang, that is a great car! From the looks of it, the car must have been modified from top to bottom, from the chassis to the windows and doors! The car owner must be someone we know!”

Xiang Yingzhuo glanced at him and asked, “Why? You want his car?”

The Goldfish-eyed Man rubbed his own head and smiled, “Who doesn’t! If it’s in the past, I can modify one as well, but who has the luxury now?”

He was right. There were only a few people in the city who could afford this level of car modification. It was a small circle and everyone knew each other. He wondered who was the one who survived.

A man appeared in Xiang Yingzhuo’s mind, a man who had been pressing on him like a mountain.

He forced himself to drive the man out of his mind. He was a cripple, that’s all. A cripple would not have been able to survive the apocalypse.

He’d probably been eaten by the mutated rats by now.

Xiang Yingzhuo smiled at the prospect. So what if everyone praised him for building a business empire? The apocalypse had arrived, and whoever had the strongest fist had the right to speak now!

The beautiful woman holding Xiang Yingzhuo’s arm snorted coldly and argued, “Who cares which family he’s from, just make him hand us the car. Ordinary people can’t protect their belongings during the apocalypse anyway. If he gives it to us, at least we’ll offer him shelter.”

The Goldfish-eyed Man agreed, “That’s true, Yingying.”

Although the other teammates didn’t speak, the expressions on their faces indicated that they agreed with the woman as well.

The soldiers, who were resting quietly, furrowed their brows when they heard these arrogant words. What is the difference between these people and robbers?

But because they didn’t want to provoke the evolved people, they simply frowned and closed their eyes to rest.

If Yin Yiliu was here, she would have cried out in shock, because all of the main leads of the novel were gathered here. This was the early form of the famous team of the future.

The male lead Xiang Yingzhuo, the reborn female lead Liu Zhen, the evil female supporting character who was also the male lead’s fiancée Li Yingying, and the other important supporting characters were all sitting in a military truck only a few dozen meters away from her at the moment.

Liu Zhen had been reborn. After such a long time in the apocalypse, her heart became as cold as stone, and she didn’t see anything wrong with robbing a car.

When she first met Xiang Yingzhuo and his team, she even thought that they were too soft-hearted. She would not have joined them if it weren’t for the fact that these people were the famous team before her death in her previous life.

Especially this conceited woman Li Yingying, who was always convinced that she was going to steal her man. This girl would die in the apocalypse sooner or later because of her own stupidity.

Liu Zhen was reborn on the fourth day of the apocalypse. After being killed by a mutated animal, she slowly opened her eyes, and she was back in her pre-apocalypse bedroom.

She was stunned after taking in her surroundings. She stumbled out of bed and reached for the calendar on the table in front of the window. After seeing the date, she was frozen for a long time.

She never would have thought that something such as rebirth would happen to her. At that moment, she vaguely understood that she was different from others. She hurriedly stuffed her belongings into her bag.

Now that she knew the future within three years of the apocalypse, her top priority was to find someone to rely on. The first people that came to mind was the survivor team that was famous in the apocalypse.

She had heard that the leader of the famous team, Xiang Yingzhuo, was from the same city as her. They said that when the apocalypse arrived, he had slept for 4 whole days, and today was the fourth day of the apocalypse.

She must gain Xiang Yingzhuo’s trust and follow him. She believed that with her help, they would definitely make it to the end.

Because of her previous experience surviving in the apocalypse, Liu Zhen was very fast at packing up. She intended to go to the kitchen next. When she opened her room door, she discovered that it was blocked from the outside.

After kicking the door open, she was met with a messy and smelly living room, and the bloodstains had hardened and blackened. She knitted her brows at the mutated insects squirming in the broken limbs on the ground, then packed all the food she could find in the kitchen and hurriedly left the house.

The same thing had happened in her previous life. When the apocalypse arrived, mutated rats and poisonous insects barged into her house. During the fight, her parents pushed her into her room and leaned the sofa against the door to protect her.

When she left the room two days later, she was hungry and thirsty. Then she witnessed this tragic scene. She had blamed herself at the time, but after rebirth, Liu Zhen’s only goal was to find Xiang Yingzhuo’s team.

As for her parents who had died protecting her, she believed that they would understand and forgive her.

Xiang Yingzhuo was already famous before the apocalypse. The Xiang family was in the real estate business. The young master in the family was often in the news because of his handsome face.

Xiang Yingzhuo should be at the Xiang house at this time. Liu Zhen went straight to the rich people’s neighbourhood where she eventually found the Xiang house.

Surely enough, Xiang Yingzhuo’s friends and fiancée looked after him at the Xiang house, and they became especially vigilant after seeing Liu Zhen.

" "

Liu Zhen was a little scared, but knowing that her life depended on this, she suppressed her fear and declared, “I can rescue Xiang Yingzhuo!”

A small number of people would evolve in the beginning of the apocalypse. The side effects were high fever and coma. During this period, the body would hibernate, which was not dangerous, so no ‘rescue’ was actually needed. This was called the initial heat period.

As long as the initial heat period had passed, they could wake up by themselves. After waking up, certain parts of the body would change.

However, this was the experience that people had summed up during the later days. The apocalypse just started recently. Of course people were worried when he fell into a coma and developed a high fever for four whole days.

Liu Zhen apologized to Xiang Yingzhuo in her heart. Although pretending to be his saviour was somewhat shameless, she could only do so in order to survive!

As for Li Yingying’s obstruction and distrust, naturally it was up to Xiang Yingzhuo’s friends to persuade her. In the end they allowed Liu Zhen to enter the bedroom.

That night, Xiang Yingzhuo truly woke up as she had ‘predicted’. The first person the man saw when he opened his eyes was her. He asked in a confused voice, “Who are you?”

“The person who rescued you.”

Liu Zhen promptly explained that she was a prophet, and that it was due to the will of her dreams that she came to rescue Xiang Yingzhuo. She easily gained the trust of the team.

Everyone was very friendly to her except Li Yingying. Liu Zhen knew that her own evolution was simply a stronger body. The so-called prophecies were all the things she experienced in her previous life. She could not compare to the big bosses of the later days of the apocalypse.

She must assist Xiang Yingzhuo to overcome all obstacles in order to carry a weight in his heart, so that even if she ‘lost her prophet abilities’ later, Xiang Yingzhuo would continue to protect her.
