After resolving Wei Lan’s matter, Yan Qing Chi followed Jiang Mo Chen up to the second floor. This floor was quieter than the first floor, and it seemed to be even more stylish.

Jiang Mo Chen stopped in front of a door and pushed it open, entering the room.

Yan Qing Chi trailed in after him, and noticed that this room was very large.

This was an architecture design similar to a suite. The main room was a KTV design, with a platform on the side. On the platform, there was a gaming area with activities such as pool. 1

Upon their arrival, the person who was singing stopped. In an instant, the scene turned quiet. Yan Qing Chi heard the person who was holding the microphone prompt, “Jiang Mo Chen, are you not going to introduce us?”

Jiang Mo Chen and Yan Qing Chi sat down on the sofa, “This is my spouse, Yan Qing Chi.”

Then he looked towards the four people on the sofa and introduced them one by one, “Liao Si Bo, Yu Xi He, Ren Xu, Sun Xun.”

Yan Qing Chi nodded. He had a general understanding of these four people. After all, as Jiang Mo Chen’s friends, they did come up in the original novel. Liao Si Bo, Yu Xi He, Ren Xu—these three people were Jiang Mo Chen’s childhood friends. They knew Jiang Mo Chen since they were students. Although they have gathered less frequently since Jiang Mo Chen entered the entertainment industry, their relationships were still pretty good. Among them, Liao Si Bo could be said to be mentioned the most in the original novel. The reason was very simple, it was because he had some intentions towards the Little White Lotus that were rather hard to explain. Because of his many years of friendship with Jiang Mo Chen, he never confronted his inner heart- not that this prevented him from supporting the Little White Lotus or siding with the Little White Lotus when he was treated unfairly.

As for Sun Xun, he was different from the three aforementioned individuals. He was Jiang Mo Chen’s friend within the industry. When the two of them collaborated on a movie, they got along swimmingly and became close friends. Later on, Jiang Mo Chen brought him to meet his childhood friends. Sun Xun was a good conversationalist and witty.  He quickly integrated himself within Jiang Mo Chen’s circle of friends, and became a part of their gatherings.

Yu Xin He had been playing a dice drinking game with Ren Xu before they came. Now, when he heard Jiang Mo Chen introduce Yan Qing Chi, he very naturally said, “Hey now, Jiang Mo Chen, that’s not very fair of you. We said that we would all be single together, yet not only did you first secretly leave the singles group, it took you this long to bring ‘sister’-in-law out to meet us. You must drink a cup as punishment.”

“That’s right, punishment drink.” Ren Xu urged.

Jiang Mo Chen obliged and took a drink, “I did want to introduce you all earlier, but did any of you have any time of your packed schedules to spare?!”

“You’ve got to say that it’s to meet your spouse. Regardless of how busy we are, we have to make time for you.”

“Yowh, you say that as if you weren’t the one who just got off the plane last night, CEO Ren.”

“Shut up, you blabbermouth.” Ren Xun was shamed into anger. He was the youngest out of the group, and the wildest. Originally, he had thought that he could play around for a couple more years since he had his older siblings to bear the responsibility, but his old man directly threw a half-dead company on him and told him that he wanted to see results within a year. This scared Ren Xun to instantly experience malaise, running around every day for his old man’s test at the end of the year.

The music was still playing. Jiang Mo Chen asked Yan Qing Chi if he wanted to sing. Yu Xin He grabbed the microphone on the table and offered it.

Yan Qing Chi shook his head and passed the microphone over to Jiang Mo Chen, “You sing.”

“Feeling shy?” Jiang Mo Chen asked him in a low voice.

Yan Qing Chi deliberated and decided in the end against revealing the fact that he was tone-deaf. Thus, he merely gave a faint smile, “I still haven’t heard you sing.”

His words had just fallen when there was a harsh, derisive laugh. The air from the nose brushed against the microphone, amplifying the contempt in the amusement. Yan Qing Chi raised his head to see Liao Si Bo leaning against the sofa with the microphone in his hand. He sneered, “I beg your pardon, I wasn’t able to resist for a moment there. Those words were terribly tacky.”

Jiang Mo Chen’s expression immediately hardened.

Yan Qing Chi glanced at him and replied “Oh”, signaling that he heard his words.

Liao Si Bo was probably not satisfied with his indifferent reply, hence he deliberately challenged, “You think that I was out of line?”

“Liao Si Bo, shut your trap.” Jiang Mo Chen admonished in a cold voice.

“Yowh, I haven’t even said anything yet, and you’re being so protective of him?”

Jiang Mo Chen was exasperated, “What is wrong with you?”

“What’s wrong with me? Jiang Mo Chen, you got married without any notice. Do you still take us to be your friends? Do you still take me to be your (unrelated) brother?”

“So?” Jiang Mo Chen retorted, “Am I supposed to call up every single one of you and ask, ‘Hey, can someone at my age get married? Should I get married?’”

“Who said you can’t get married? But is just randomly finding someone to marry fair to you, to Yuan Ming Xu, or even to him?”

Yuan Ming Xu was the original novel’s main character as well as the Little White Lotus.

Jiang Mo Chen’s face immediately darkened. He said, “Liao Si Bo, you shut your mouth.”

Liao Si Bo snorted. He turned to look at Yan Qing Chi, “You as well. The two of you have only known each other for so many days. To marry a stranger just like that, what’s in it for you? His face or his money? Have you fallen so low?”

Jiang Mo Chen shot up to his feet, reaching out to make a grab onto Liao Si Bo’s collar. Yu Xin He and Ren Xu hastily held him back. They tried to persuade as they rebuked, “Liao Si Bo, you’re frigging drunk. What drunk fit are you throwing? Hurry up and apologize to ‘sister’-in-law2 and Mo Chen.”

Liao Si Bo gave a scornful laugh, “Sure, I apologize. I’ll have a drink in punishment.”

He took a cup of alcohol from the table and finished it in one go.

Yan Qing Chi observed him, silent.

Sun Xun looked at the scene before him where the atmosphere was so tense you could cut it with a knife. He tugged on Liao Si Bo’s arm, “Let’s go, I’ll accompany you to play a game of pool. Didn’t you always want someone to play a round with you before?”

Liao Si Bo looked at him, then at the still-seething Jiang Mo Chen and the impassive Yan Qing Chi.

“Where’s the fun in playing with you?” His gaze was locked on Yan Qing Chi and a smirk slowly spread across his face, “’Sister’-in-law, do you know how to play pool? How about a round?”

Yu Xi He, Ren Xu, and Sun Xun’s collective hearts were filled with “Bi——”3. Yu Xi He and Ren Xu restrained Jiang Mo Chen, who was clearly about to explode a second time, afraid that Liao Si Bo’s life would end tonight. Sun Xun helplessly looked up to the sky, hoping that Yan Qing Chi would not be provoked by Liao Si Bo and fall into his trap.

“What’s the matter? You don’t have the guts?” Liao Si Bo taunted.

“That’s enough, Liao Si Bo. Let’s go, I’ll send you home.” Sun Xun grabbed onto him and prepared to pull him up and drag him out of this private room.

After his provocation, Liao Si Bo was in a better mood. He borrowed the other party’s strength to support himself up, not forgetting to give another provocative push, “If only Ming Xu was here, then he could accompany me to play a game.”

Yan Qing Chi suddenly laughed. He looked at Liao Si Bo, his pair of cherry blossom eyes glittering under the light, twinkling like stars.
“Isn’t it just playing pool?” Yan Qing Chi stood up, “I’ll play with you.”

Jiang Mo Chen turned to look at him. Catching his eye, Yan Qing Chi beamed back at him, “Don’t worry, I’ve played this before.”

Liao Si Bo scoffed, “You?” He scanned Yan Qing Chi up and down, “You’re a fresh university graduate, aren’t you? Did you skip classes to play?”

Jiang Mo Chen felt that he truly should not have called Liao Si Bo over today, “Sun Xun, send him back.”

“Don’t be like that, didn’t the little ‘sister’-in-law already agree? What are you butting in for?”

“Liao Si Bo, you are aware of your pool skills. You are aware of what you are trying to do. Do you dare to say that you won’t jeer and ridicule Yan Qing Chi if he loses? Do you dare to say that you simply wanted to find someone and play a round? What’s the point?” Ren Xun derided, he could not understand what was wrong with Liao Si Bo today.

“What are you saying? I only want to play with him, it’s not like anything is at stake. Besides, I’ll go easy on him, that’s got to be good enough for you.”

Ren Xu shot him a contemptuous glance, his eyes full of ridicule.

Yan Qing Chi merely watched as this exchange occurred. Seeing that they were done talking, he took the initiative to walk towards the platform, “Let’s go then.”

Jiang Mo Chen grabbed onto his arm, “You’re really going to play with him?”

“Don’t worry. Even though it’s been a while since I’ve last played, I should still have the muscle memory.”

Jiang Mo Chen drew closer to him, “This isn’t drawing. Liao Si Bo is average in other activities, but this is his strong point. He’s virtually never really lost before.”

Yan Qing Chi thought about it, “I don’t seem to have really lost before either.”

“Could that be the same?” Jiang Mo Chen seriously could not understand how this guy suddenly became dumb again. Hadn’t he been acting quite clever during the time that they had known each other? Yes, he did want to see Yan Qing Chi reveal his idiotic fox tail, but not now!

Yan Qing Chi patted his hand, “Chillax, just trust me.”

Jiang Mo Chen was about to say something when he heard a derisive snort from the side, “Disgustinggg.”

Yan Qing Chi immediately turned to look at Liao Si Bo, catching sight of the unveiled disdain in the latter’s eyes. He directed a cheerful smile at him, then pulled Jiang Mo Chen’s hand —which had been holding onto him—and planted an exaggerated kiss on it, before sending Liao Si Bo a taunting look.

Liao Si Bo was practically so infuriated by him that his throat was clenched up. He threw a comment, “Shameless,” and stalked towards the pool table.

A laugh slipped out from Ren Xu.

Yan Qing Chi looked back at Jiang Mo Chen, whose expression was quite peculiar, “Relax. I already said that I definitely know what I’m doing.”
