Young Brother-in-law Is Now My Husband

Chapter 42: It Feels Good To Feel Your Heartbeats...

Lu Qiang pulled her closer, leaning in to take a closer look at the zipper. His face was so close to hers and her face almost burying in his nape, allowing her to smell the man's scent. It made her slip up and remove her hand from his chest, slowly guiding it to his back as if she almost hugged her.

Lu Qiang moved her hair to one side with his left and pulled up the zipper with his right. The small gap of a centimeter or two that was not visible to others did not escape his eyes.

The dress, a perfect fit, didn't let Jiang Yuyan know of this situation, either. When Lu Qiang's sharp sight noticed it, he couldn't help but put down his wine and come to her rescue.

As he worked on her zipper, his chin touched her shoulder that made her shut her eyes tightly and gripped onto his jacket.

When Lu Qiang was done fastening the zipper, he pulled back slightly to look at her. Her eyes were closed, and he had already felt the tight grip on his jacket.

Moving closer to her ear, he whispered, "It's done."

Her grip loosened, and she opened her eyes. She was mildly shocked by what had transpired. She looked at him with moist eyes and felt herself shiver under his scrutiny. He stared at her, his lips tugged up into a small smile.

Confused by what was happening to her, she tried to move away only to impeded by his tightening grip. "Are you in a hurry to leave before the song ends?"

Not replying, she merely lowered her eyes, and resumed her pace. She couldn't deny that she was thankful to him for helping her. He moved a little away, continuing their original dance position.

"Did you forget me?" Lu Qiang asked, looking at her lowered face.

"N-No," Jiang Yuyan stuttered, shaking her head. "I just couldn't recognize you." She avoided looking at him.

"Is that so?" he said, the corner of his lips curving up.

"We were kids when we last met, and now we are…" she trailed off, feeling awkward.

"Adults?" Lu Qiang whispered in her ear, taking advantage of her slow and fumbled speech.

She coughed, moving away when his lips touched her ear. "I mean grown-ups," she said. She tried her best to keep calm. "So many years have passed, and you look different."

"Or way more handsome than before?" he teased.

"I didn't notice," she said in a low voice.

"Are you nervous?" he asked, amused.

"N-no! Why should I be?"

"Then why is your heartbeat so fast?" he said, caressing the side of her wrist with his thumb.

"Huh?" She moved her head up, surprised by his comment as she didn't notice that he was holding her wrist as she was busy matching her step with his.

Holding her wrist tightly in his hand, he circled his fingers around it to press lightly on its inner side.

He looked at her wrist and commented, "It feels good to sense your heartbeat like this."

She moved her sight in the direction of his sight and looked at her wrist, which he held quite tightly. Gazing straight in his eyes, she asked mockingly, "Are you nervous too?"

"Huh?" He raised a brow in a questioning manner.

"I, too, felt your heartbeat when my hand was resting on your chest. It was running as fast as a bullet train," she said without an ounce of hesitation.

The usual Jiang Yuyan was back, but she didn't know how long it would last.

He just smiled wickedly and replied in a low voice, "That's because of…" He took a long pause.

"Huh?" She was waiting for what he was going to say.

"only you. You make my heart beat faster every time I see you," he said in a seductive voice, almost touching his lips to her earlobe.

He inhaled deeply, smelling the scent of her long hair that was tucked behind her ear. He really wanted to bite her ear but controlled his desire.

Smiling, he moved his face away to look at her, not knowing what his action had done to her.

Her eyes were wide open and her lips little parted. It looked like she had forgotten how to breathe. He kissed her forehead gently, smiled, and said, "Breathe!"

She snapped back to her senses, inhaling deeply, not knowing how to react. The song finished around the same time, and she gave a sigh of relief. The two walked out of the dance floor together only to notice Lu Lijun and Wang Peng at a short distance from them.

"Brother, where were you?" Lu Lijun asked, holding his brother's hand and looking up at his face.

"What happened. I didn't see you, either. Where were you?" Lu Qiang rested his hand on the small shoulder.

"I was waiting for you. When you didn't come, I chatted with cousin Wang Peng about my new gaming beast." Lu Qiang hummed in reply.

"We went together to find brother Lu Feng. I asked him to come back, and he said he would arrive sometime later," the young boy informed.

Lu Qiang listened intently. He knew well of his brother's habit of saying everything in one breath and had developed the habit of listening patiently.

It was then that Lu Lijun's sight shifted to Jiang Yuyan, who was standing next to his brother. He didn't utter a word as he stared at her. Noticing this, Lu Qiang introduced them. "Lijun, this is Jiang Yuyan, my childhood friend."

The boy didn't react. He turned to his brother, completely ignoring her.

She was about to leave when Jiang Yang appeared beside her.

"I'm so sorry I left you. It was an important call," he said apologetically.

"It's okay."

Jiang Yang looked at Lu Qiang. "Thank you for accompanying my sister for the dance, Lu Qiang," he said politely.

"It was my pleasure," Lu Qiang replied.

These two were childhood best friends, but things turned around to make them more like strangers.

Jiang Yuyan rolled her eyes when she saw her brother gave her a teasing look and quickly looked in the other direction.

"Little man, you must be Lu Lijun," Jiang Yang commented.

Lu Lijun nodded and smiled in reply.

"You were a cute little baby when I last saw you. You are all grown up now!"
