After a little more talk, my friends went on their way to dance with the bachelors they aimed for.

Caroline grabbed Brother Orpheus, saying that they’ll dance to a single tune, and left me alone to tend to myself, but Prince Savalier, who had then danced five songs already, approached me.

‘Why is Miss Saintess all alone?’

‘It’s his highness’ brother’s fault.’

‘Haha, my brother is conservative after all.’ he said, taking a seat next to mine.

‘Belated, Happy Birthday, Prince Savalier.’

‘Thank you.’

Whenever he laughs, Prince Savalier looks just like his brother Maynard. He’s slender for not being as athletic, but he does not lose to him when it comes to height. Putting the two prince together in one place makes for picturesque masterpiece.

‘So until when do you plan to carry on your lover’s quarrel with brother.’

‘L-lover’s quarrel, sir?’

‘What, isn’t that what it is? ‘I’m sorry for being unfaithful.’ ‘I won’t forgive you!’, wasn’t it something along the lines of those?’

‘…You’re mistaken, sir.’

As Prince Savalier kept giggling, I couldn’t tell for sure whether he was serious or not.

He took a champagne glass from a waiter’s tray and after playing around with the bubbles by lightly rocking the glass,

‘But, he really should hurry it up. Keep dawdling things around, and I might join the fray myself.’ or so the 2nd prince said, stunning me.

When I stared at him in wonder, his highness placed the tip of his finger in my cheek.

‘I would be happy if you chose me instead. Although, I’m a little scared that he might kill me for that.’

‘Surely, you jest, highness.’

‘I’m not kidding, though. I feel like a life spent with you will never bore.’

‘I’m not some kind of an amusing animal, sir.’

Prince Savalier has always loved teasing me.

Likely because he is aware of the countless pranks I pulled together with Maynard in our childhood, the 2nd prince does not seem to see me as a woman.

He has loved reading books secluded in his room since childhood and didn’t made ruckus with us in the castle’s courtyard. But Maynard, the affectionate older brother he is, always tells him of our mischievous feats, which I think what made Prince Savalier see me as some kind of an amusingly rare animal. So that’s another one of Maynard’s offenses!

As I puffed my cheeks in frustration, Prince Savalier playfully poked them again, and as he tilted his champagne glass,

‘Huh?’

I worryingly said.

Prince Savalier’s eyes turned wide; his champagne glass crashed towards the ground as the 2nd prince, struggling, held his throat instead.

‘Your highness!?’

He fell to his knees, and as he began to sweat on his forehead,

‘…It’s poison.’

the 2nd prince said with a hoarse voice making me swallow my breathe.
