Jin Siming didn’t sleep very well last night and so when she arrived at the school gate with her suitcase at seven in the morning, she was still yawning non-stop.

The aptitude performance center is located in a relatively remote area that was quite far, so the school had prepared two large buses to transport them there.

The buses were parked at the front gate of the school and Jin Siming boarded the first bus, dragging her suitcase behind her.

Only about half of the bus was filled and Jin Siming quickly found a random, empty seat in the middle and sat down.

This year, their school, Yuanhai High, has almost 120 differentiated rising third-years. They were spread out across the two buses, but there was no requirement to stay with your class so the buses were a mix of many different classes. For most students, however, they would still choose to partner up with people they’re familiar with and most formed groups with people in their class.

Jin Siming didn’t really care about these things. She is quite used to being alone and even at school she only hung out with Su Xioahang, but…

Thinking of Su Xiaohang, Jin Siming sighed helplessly.

A few days ago, that brat had called her several times to complain. Apparently, because of her delayed differentiation, her parents were preparing for the possibility that she wouldn’t differentiate at all. Thus, they forced her to go to cram schools that would prepare her for the general college entrance exam. This meant re-learning every single subject she learned during her first and second years, so every day except for eating and sleeping she was studying. Her parents also hired a full-time tutor for her. So to her, this wasn’t a vacation and in fact was even worse than regular school.

However, Su Xiaohang could only accept her fate in this situation.

Although this trip was organized by the school and the aptitude exams would decide their final grades, the students in the buses were all quite excited to see one another despite the early morning.

Jin Siming fastened her seat belt and leaned against the bus window, planning on catching up on some sleep as she tuned out the noisy voices around her.

A few minutes later, a sudden ruckus broke out on the bus.

“Good morning, Jin-Jin!”

“Jin-Jin, there’s a free seat next to me!”

“Jin-Jin, how are you doing these days?”

Hearing the commotion, Jin Siming opened her eyes and looked up.

Yao Jin was as popular as ever as many people greeted her as soon as she got on the bus.

She was wearing a sky blue t-shirt today, one that was long enough to cover her shorts and make it seem like she wasn’t wearing pants while revealing her slender and beautiful legs. Her makeup and costume were as perfect as usual, but that wasn’t the important point, no, the important thing was…she was wearing her hair in a twintails style today!

As someone who has a hidden fetish for twintails, Jin Siming felt like she was suddenly stabbed in the heart. She couldn’t help but stare at Yao Jin, unable to move her eyes away.

Maybe it was because she was staring too blatantly because Yao Jin suddenly raised her head and met her gaze.

Jin Siming immediately looked away with a guilty heart, but from the corner of her eyes she noticed the other party walking towards her step by step.

“Classmate Jin, can I sit next to you?”

Jin Siming nodded, picking up her backpack and placing it in her lap to make room for the other party.

Chen Mianmian, who had gotten on the bus before Yao Jin, smiled sweetly at her and happily sat down next to her.

“Ah, did you not sleep last night? You don’t look so well.” Chen Mianmian said as she studied her face.

Jin Siming replied lightly, “En, I didn’t sleep well last night.”

And, the culprit of her insomnia was once again Yao Jin.

In addition to texting her a 【See you tomorrow. 】message, Yao Jin had also sent her a selfie of her and the little fluff ball.

Sending a picture of the cat with the owner in it does seem reasonable on the surface, but not when it was taken on the bed with said owner in her pajamas!

In Jin Siming’s opinion, such a photo should only be shared with close friends or….something similar. However, Yao Jin and her currently couldn’t be considered friends right now.

Perhaps it was because she helped her last time, so Yao Jin is just trying to be nice to her?

With Jin Siming’s thoughts in a mess, she couldn’t sleep well at all last night.

Chen Mianmian watched her put her head down silently and decided to change the subject, “I’m looking forward to the trip! We should be arriving at the center by noon. I’m looking forward to it! I wonder if Chengye High or Deshang High are also participating with us like they did last year.”

“Deshang High?” The name sounded familiar enough to break Jin Siming out of her thoughts.

Seeing her reply, Chen Mianmian quickly added, “That’s right! Deshang High is the vocational high school next to us. Our school has participated with those two schools for the past few years, and students from each school are encouraged to compete against students from the other schools.”

“Compete….” Jin Siming said pensively.

Chen Mianmian clapped her hands together as she said excitedly, “I’m getting excited just thinking about it! Chengye High has come in first place for the last few years, but this year I don’t think it will be the same. Siming, with you as our only S-rank Alpha this year you have to do your best! Get lots of points for our school! Win for the glory of our school!”

“Ai, though, speaking of, I wonder if the difficulty levels will be lowered this year…”

Chen Mianmian continued to chatter next to her, but Jin Siming didn’t pay attention to her words as she thought of other things.

She had believed that the aptitude test was going to be something simple. At most, she would do a few sets of questions and maybe some clinical exams like they do in the hospital. She didn’t expect it to be much more complicated than what she had in mind.

The bus drove for about four hours before it arrived at their destination around noon.

The aptitude performance center was built on a mountain, and was much bigger than Jin Siming had imagined. Each building was magnificent and gorgeous, giving someone the feeling of staying at a luxurious villa.

For many students this was their first time here and all of them wore amazed expressions on their faces as they stared in wonder at the scene outside their windows.

Since the center is based on a mountain, the location was isolated and sealed off from the public.

The center is equipped with various facilities meant for eating and sleeping including a large shopping mall and an outdoor swimming pool.

After the bus drove through the gate, it stopped in the middle of an open space. Students from various classes got off the bus and gathered together when their class presidents called out their names.

Jin Siming got off the car and picked up her luggage as she also headed towards the gathering point for their class.

“Here are your IDs, detailed maps of the location, and manuals the staff has provided us.”

The class president handed an exclusive ID card and two other items to each of them and continued: “The ID card is essential if you wish to participate in any activities here. You’ll need it for when you enter or leave a room, for eating and shopping, and for entering any ability testing rooms. Each card has 1000 points deposited in it and if you need any additional points, you’ll have to buy it with your own money.”

Li Yong glanced down at his card, putting it in his pocket as he asked casually: “Do you buy everything here with these points? And is 1 RMB = 1 point?” (T/N: Note that RMB is the currency China uses and sometimes is called yuan as well)

Their class president patiently answered his question: “You can exchange 2 yuan for 1 point. There are more detailed guidelines about this location and day-to-day living, including notes on the purpose of our visit, the various hours for the examination rooms and the testing rules. These are very important, so please finish reading the manual at the end of the day so as to not affect the final scores.”

After confirming that everyone had received their items, the class president clapped their hands and said loudly, “Attention please! It is almost noon! Your ID card has your respective room numbers on them and you can choose to go back to your room first before eating at the cafeteria. Since today is Monday, virtually every examination room will not be open. So after you finish eating, please familiarize yourself with the environment as you prepare for tomorrow’s tests. Also, every night at eight o’clock, the entire class must gather at meeting room A03 in block B. The rest of your time is spent however you like. If there are any announcements, the head teacher will send a notice to the group chat so please pay attention to it!”

“Wait, if the rest of our time is spent however we like, does that mean except for the gathering at eight every night we can do whatever we want during the week? Can we also decide which test sites and examination rooms we want to go to?”

Someone in the crowd suddenly raised this question.

The class president revealed his pearly whites as he smiled at them: “That is correct. Although, please keep in mind that at the end of the week the school will decide the placement of your third year class based on your final grades. Everyone, please work hard!”

After briefly explaining a few more important matters, the class president disbanded their group and everyone dispersed to find their own rooms.

Jin Siming looked down at her ID card. A string of golden numbers was displayed in the lower right corner: District D, Building C, No.404. That last one should be her room number.

She opened the map and then began walking towards her room’s location.

There were many trees and plants inside the center and they stood on both sides of a long road, all lush and vibrant. After dragging her suitcase across the smooth road, she arrived at a wide central square.

The middle of the square stood a tower with a pyramid-shaped base and long rectangular column. At the very top of the tower displayed four huge black screens with one one each side.

The huge black screens were quite conspicuous so Jin Siming noticed them immediately as she entered the square and couldn’t help but stop and look at them for a moment.

District D should be across this square. Jin Siming moved to walk forward when suddenly a voice called out from her right.

“Our destinies really are intertwined together! Nice to meet you again, little pervert~”

The familiar voice stopped Jin Siming in her tracks and when she turned her head she saw Ji Lingfei, dressed in a flamboyant outfit and walking towards her.

She put on a displeased expression. She really didn’t like being called a pervert.

“I’ve already explained myself last time. So please don’t call me that again.” Jin Siming said with a raised eyebrow.

Ji Lingfei stopped in front of her, “Ah, so sorry, I got used to it so I forgot to change it. Don’t worry, I won’t forget in the future~”

In the future?

Jin Siming glared at the “Omega” in front of her. Ji Lingfei had left quite the impression on their first meeting, but her instincts were telling her that this person is difficult to deal with and that she best not interact with her too much.

So she tightened her grip on her suitcase and said coldly, “What do you want?”

“Tick–”

At that moment, the huge black screens on the tower behind her suddenly lit up and the photos of three people appeared on the screens along with their names, school affliction, and the points they have achieved displayed on the right of each photo.

Ji Lingfei looked up and clicked her tongue softly, “They’ve started already? But, where are the numbers that compare the scores between the three schools?”

As soon as she finished speaking the screens changed and next to the photos of the three people another column showed the school emblems for Chengye, Yuanhai, and Deshang. Each emblem had a number next to them, that number being 0 for each of them.

However, in the next second, the number next to the emblem for Chengye High changed from 0 to 1.

Ji Lingfei also saw the changes and said with a mirthful tone as she twirled a strand of her hair: “Ha~ Those lunatics from Chengye High have already started raising their scores. They really can’t wait a single second.”

Jin Siming frowned, doubt written across her face, “But, aren’t the examination rooms closed right now?

“Ai…” Ji Lingfei sighed deeply, leaning over to pat Jin Siming’s shoulder, “Although they’ve said that there are “virtually” no examination rooms open today, that doesn’t mean there aren’t any rooms open. Ah, right, this year, you are the hope of our school. Whether we will be crushed or not by Chengye High this time will depend entirely on you, baby~”

Jin Siming took a step backwards, feeling uncomfortable at suddenly having so many expectations placed on her shoulders. She easily broke free of the other’s grip on her shoulder, “Stop. You’re praising me too much. Also, since we don’t know each other well, don’t call me baby.”

“Pfft~ I didn’t expect you to be so interested. A little awkward yet stubborn. So stubborn that it’s cute, this sort of personality is perfectly in line with….a certain person’s tastes.”

Then, like performing a magic trick, she took out a small notebook and a pen from her pockets with a flourish before writing something on it.

Jin Siming was puzzled by her strange behavior and asked, “What are you doing?”

Ji Lingfei replied with curled lips, “Nothing, you probably don’t want to know.”

“….”

Jin Siming frowned, and she felt more and more that her instincts were right. This “omega” was really strange and towards those strange people who wanted to approach her, she often took a simple and rude measure towards them. And that is…to avoid them.

She picked up her suitcase and was about to give Ji Lingfei an excuse so she could leave when a bus from the main road passed her and stopped not too far away.

When the bus stopped, the doors opened and students came spilling out. From the looks of it, they were students their age from another school.

Jin Siming glanced at them a few times when she caught sight of a familiar head of yellow hair from the corner of her eye. Her gaze froze as she began to study the group of students a little more carefully.

A little while later, she spotted a few more familiar figures getting off the bus. They were the same group of yellow-haired (and other strangely colored hair) hooligans who had chased her and Yao Jin when they ambushed them at the school gate before.

After getting out of the car, the group of yellow-haired hooligans surrounded a smaller looking girl with straight hair. The girl said something and one of the hooligans nodded and bowed to the girl, looking very humble throughout the whole thing.

It seems that these two buses belong to Deshang Vocational High School.

Ji Lingfei seemed to have spotted an acquaintance as she rubbed her chin and glanced at Jin Siming, a look of amusement flashing across her eyes: “Tong Fei is here too. It seems there is finally a good show to watch.”

“Grumble–”

A pang of hunger struck Jin Siming and she took out her phone to look at the time. It was already half past 12. She no longer had any interest in chatting with Ji Lingfei and quickly headed towards District D.

“Hey! Wait for me! I also live in District D so we’re going the same way!”

Ji Lingfei quickly followed after her with her luggage.

Like this, Ji Lingfei followed Jin Simign all the way to District D, then up to the fourth floor of BUilding C, and then finally opened the door to the room opposite Room 404.

Jin Siming: “…”

Ji Lingfei raised her ID card: “Maybe we do share a fate together after all?”

The corners of her mouth twitched as Jin Siming replied, “So be it. Bye.”

After speaking, she quickly closed the door to her room.

Seeing the other party close her door so coldly, Ji Lingfei took out a small mirror from her bag and looked into it, “Tsk, how can she be so indifferent to such a beautiful Omega like me?”

After putting down her luggage and taking a brief rest, Jin Siming impatiently went out for lunch. She was quite hungry after all.

The cafeteria was quite big, divided into a total of three floors. However, since this was her first time here and she was unfamiliar with the settings, Jin Siming simply bought a meal on the first floor to soothe her growling stomach.

The cafeteria was quite crowded at the moment and Jin Siming was about to sit at the closest empty table when she heard someone call her name.

“Jin Siming, over here~”

Not too far away, Ji Lingfei was waving passionately at her.

She had unexpectedly bumped into this lunatic again. Jin Siming stood there for a while, hesitating on what she should do. She really didn’t want to go over there, but Jin Siming was loud enough for several people to look up at her. She had no choice but to grit her teeth and walk over.

“I called you over because I saw you standing there all alone. What do you say, was I right?” Ji Lingfei looked over at her with an expression that was begging for compliments.

Jin Siming lowered her head, stuffing a mouthful of rice into her mouth with an expressionless face: “Thank you very much.”

“Haha, you really are quite interesting~”

Jin Siming lowered her head and concentrated on eating in silence, so Ji Lingfei had nothing else to say.

A moment of silence descended on their table when suddenly a new tray was placed between them.

Ji Lingfei raised her eyes to see Qin Chuxuan. She smiled, “I called you over earlier but you didn’t come. Did you suddenly change your mind?”

“Cough….” Qin Chuxuan covered her mouth and coughed dryly before smiling brightly at Jin Siming: “Classmate Jin, we meet again~”

Jin Siming had a good impression of Qin Chuxuan so she returned her greeting with a friendly smile.

Qin Chuxuan glanced at the empty seat next to Jin Siming and moved to sit there when Ji Lingfei patted the seat next to her first and said, “Xuanxuan~ Come sit here!”

Qin Chuxuan glared at her, but Ji Lingfei simply smiled back at her and so she had no choice but to sit next to Jin Lingfei.

Jin Siming looked across the table. There seemed to be something weird between the two of them, but since she had met both of them in class 5 before, she guessed they’re both close friends. In the end, she decided not to comment.

“Is Classmate Jin alone?”

After Qin Chuxuan sat down, she faced Jin Siming with a crooked smile.

Jin Siming swallowed the food in his mouth and replied, “En, yes.”

Ji Lingfei: “Classmate Jin, you don’t seem to have any friends? So why don’t you hang out with us from now on?”

Although Jin Siming really doesn’t have any friends, she felt upset as soon as someone actually said this fact.

She raised an eyebrow, “Who said I don’t have any friends?”

Although she said this, she didn’t feel enough confidence to back it up.

Ji Lingfei: “Then where are you friends?”

“They….” Jin Siming opened her mouth and hesitated. Then she saw Yao Jin walking straight towards them with a tray in her hand.

She stared at Yao Jin’s twintails for a moment.

When she recovered from her daze, she found Yao Jin already standing in front of her, leaning forward to stare down at her.

“Were you looking for me?”
