Chapter 34.2 - Flying Dragon Base (2/4)

At the moment, they had arrived at the location behind the hall where mutated animals were slaughtered. The mutated cat that they had hunted earlier had been cleaned and skinned, and the huge animal skin hung at the door.

“About the offer I made just now to trade half of the cat meat for something else, I wonder what Bro Jin Yang thinks about it?” Liu Meng asked. His eyes were gleaming, and his lips curled into an imperceptible smile.

His proposal was very clever. Jin Yang and his teammates plus a mutated wolf couldn’t possibly carry half of the cat with them. Bone and skin aside, half of the cat weighed at least two or three tons of meat. No matter what these people wanted to exchange the meat for, they couldn’t possibly carry much since they only had six hands. It would still be more advantageous to their base in the end.

To be able to do them a favor and be the good guy, and at the same time be beneficial to their own base, it was a very good deal indeed.

He generously ordered his men to cut a few pieces of head-sized raw meat, skewer them, and hand them to Zhao Qiyang. After that, he led them to the warehouse where the food and other daily necessities of the base were stored for Jin Yang and his teammates to pick at will.

Seeing Liu Meng’s smug little face, Yin Yiliu clenched her paws quietly. If she didn’t bleed them dry today, she would write her name backward!

In addition to the unopened bags of rice, the base’s warehouse also stored a large number of vacuum-packed ingredients and canned food. After the arrival of the apocalypse, Liu Meng dispatched a search team to empty the surrounding supermarkets. Hence, the warehouse looked spectacular at first glance.

Yin Yiliu patted Jin Yang’s arm, jumped off his lap, and shuttled between the shelves and various piles of food. She did not touch the rice bags labeled ‘supplies’ because these were the food that the ordinary people in the base could use their points to exchange.

She specially picked the imported canned food and bags of expensive ingredients. Soon the cans that had piled up like a hill became much shorter, leaving only the cans on the front row as a cover, while most of the cans inside had been emptied by the little rabbit.

In addition, there were some inconspicuous cold weapons in the warehouse. She stuffed them all into her space without hesitation.

When they left the warehouse, they were carrying bulging backpacks, looking like they had a fruitful harvest.

Liu Meng had no idea that one-third of his warehouse had been emptied. He cupped his fist at them and asked, “What do you think about our Flying Dragon Base? Do you want to stay here? We treat evolved people very well here. You’ll be getting the best, at least in terms of food and clothing.”

Zhao Qiyang scratched his head awkwardly, not knowing what to say. Jin Yang, who had remained silent throughout, raised his head and looked at Liu Meng.

“City Z base is at most a hundred kilometers away from here. Why didn’t you go there?”

He seemed to be genuinely perplexed. “Whether it’s regarding defense or information, isn’t it much better there than here?”

Liu Meng was not surprised by his question. He had guessed that this group of people intended to go to City Z. After all, the City Z base was far more well known than their little Flying Dragon Base.

“You might not be aware of this,” Liu Meng said as he shook his head at Jin Yang and the others, “but in terms of survival difficulty, if Flying Dragon Base is at level 3, then City Z would be at level 8! People in City Z had heard rumors about the apocalypse before it happened, so early preparations had been made. When the apocalypse arrived, the city’s survival base was quickly established. Every day, countless evolved and ordinary people entered the base with their families.”

He pointed to the deserted area outside and continued, “Among the people in our base, there were at least 20% of them who escaped from City Z. The rules in City Z were far harsher. Even so, there are still many evolved people who want to squeeze themselves into City Z every day.”

Just by listening to Liu Meng’s words, Yin Yiliu could imagine how difficult it was for ordinary people to survive in City Z.

Despite Liu Meng displaying their base’s rich supplies and his seemingly genuine sincerity, in the end, Jin Yang and his teammates still decided to go to City Z. Liu Meng did not stop them. He simply ordered his men to prepare a few of their better guest rooms for them to rest for the night.

He was confident that these people would return to Flying Dragon Base if they couldn’t make it in City Z.

When it was getting dark at night, Yin Yiliu tugged on Jin Yang’s trouser leg, stood at the door, and motioned that she wanted to go outside to play for a while. At first, he simply frowned and said no. Flying Dragon Base was so chaotic. There was no guarantee that nothing bad would happen.

He pinched the little fella’s soft little paw. “Are you not afraid of getting caught and cooked by others?”

With her long ears shaking non-stop, Yin Yiliu straightened up her small fluffy chest, lifted her right paw, and repeatedly swore to Jin Yang that she would pay attention to safety, but all Jin Yang could hear were soft chirps.

After a while, his expression softened. “You must let the black wolf follow you.”

He had guessed that the little fella wanted to turn into a human when she went out. But he was too worried to let her wander around Flying Dragon Base by herself. If the mutated wolf was by her side, at least it could deter most people.

Yin Yiliu pouted, but then she remembered that the black pup was unable to speak. Even if it had seen something shocking, it wasn’t able to tell Big Golden Thigh, so she nodded and rubbed her little head on Jin Yang’s palm before bouncing out the door.

The black wolf was unwilling, but it had no choice because this was Jin Yang’s order.

This fat, round, and stupid rabbit was only as big as its paw, as if it could swallow the rabbit whole in one bite. It grinned and let out a threatening low growl behind the fat rabbit.

Yin Yiliu could hear the little pup say fiercely, “You troublesome thing! I will swallow you whole, believe it or not!”

She shook her ears. It wasn’t that the pup’s tone was not fierce enough, but that its voice sounded too young, like a young boy acting tsundere, not even the least bit threatening.
