After Wen furen appeared personally, Yao Hong brought the two good-looking palace maids back to the imperial palace with her tail tucked between her legs in the end.

Wen furen did not bother concealing this incident, and the following ruckus it caused after it was promulgated ensured that it was known by everyone. Towards Ruan fei niangniang’s constant jumping, noise making, and moth stirring once every few days, everyone was already numb to it.

Simultaneously, the people who envied Ruan Xi were not few.

And as a natural consequence, Wen furen climbed to the number one position of being the best mother-in-law in the entire Capital.

Earl Chengyi and Lao Taitai, however, fell back in anger when they heard the news.

The fact that their inharmonious sisterly relations had reached the step where it was known by everyone caused Earl Chengyi to receive a great number of peculiar stares in court.

Unfortunately, they had no way of making a Great Master banish this evildoer.

In the Fourth Prince’s back courtyard, Mu Qing Ci continued to silently observe this ostentatious and unbridled fellow transmigrator.

In her heart, she silently wiped away a handful of sweat for herself.

Why did she decide to be friends with Ruan san niang back then? From the look of things, she was an unbeatable little cockroach, and once you made contact with her, you could not shake her off.

It was fortunate, truly fortunate, that she had forgotten about the friend she once pitted.

It was just that Wen shao-furen was a little pitiful, because she was shoved with this pit-digging and cheap older sister.

It was evident that she was not an elder, and was a modern person down to her core, and yet she gave women to the original owner’s younger sister’s clean and honest-living husband.

She was truly broadening her horizons.

Just how much did she hate seeing other people being happy?

Mu Qing Ci’s impression towards this fellow transmigrator worsened even more.

After sighing emotionally, Mu Qing Ci thought about her current predicament and silently pitied herself. Ever since the Fourth Prince’s consort married over a month ago, her pleasurable days never returned, and she had to go to the main courtyard daily to abide by the established practices.

As the concubine with the highest family background, she was the needle in Li Xiang Xiang’s eyes, and the thorn in her flesh, hence her meal treatments suffered a sudden and devastating decline.

At the present moment, inside the palace.

When Ruan san niang saw Yao Hong bring back the two good-looking palace maids with her tail tucked between her legs, and heard that she did not even catch a glimpse of her fourth sister before she was sent away by Wen furen, Ruan san niang was so angry she smashed her porcelain until her floor was strewn with the consequent debri.

“Despicable, Wen furen is truly a preposterous person, I’m helping her by doing this, alright?! She actually trampled on my dignity!”

Ruan san niang gnashed her teeth.

Wasn’t the relationship between the popo and erxi supposed to be naturally hostile?

At this moment, it was quite apparent that Ruan san niang had forgotten that she was trying to provoke Ruan Xi, in fervent hope that she could make her angry and miscarry.

Yao Hong lowered her head.

Niangniang was becoming increasingly bewitched, to the point where she was about to forget how Niangniang used to be.

On the other end, when Emperor Shengde heard his secret guard report this incident as he was seated inside the imperial study, his lips twitched. Then, he dispatched his men to reprimand Ruan san niang again.

Ruan san niang nearly vomited blood in her wrath.

Considering how her state of mind was unstable and she was being plagued by nightmares, Ruan san niang’s temper became increasingly violent.

Ruan san niang felt like she was being schemed against in the dark.

She did not have much palace fighting capabilities to begin with, but she had read quite a bit. Her resting palace hall did not even have any incense, and all the clothes she wore had been washed and sun dried.

Despite that, she was still plagued by nightmares every time she went to sleep at night, and the only times she could sleep well was when the old Emperor stayed over the night.

Contrariwise, the old Emperor was absurdly busy, and the instances where he could stay the night was so few it was pitiful, and the frequency was still the same even when she laid down her womanly physique to seduce him.

Was the saying about there being retribution in this world really true?

The transmigrated and reborn Ruan san niang became more panicked the more she thought about it.

Gritting her teeth, she decided to sleep in the day while enduring through the night.

Ruan Xi did not know about Ruan san niang’s wild thoughts, but after Wen TIng Zhou learned about Ruan san niang’s actions, which were becoming more excessive, he was utterly enraged, and he made his secret watchers in the palace increase the quantity of the medicinal powder used.

Regardless of whether it was the day or night, as long as Ruan san niang went to sleep, his secret watchers would act while she was none the wiser, thus ensuring that she would be plagued with nightmares, and unable to sleep peacefully.

From Wen Ting Zhou’s perspective, even if Ruan Ruan was not angered to the point where she disturbed the foetal energy, but given the frequency of Ruan san niang’s clandestine actions, she was proving to be an immense detriment to the both Ruan Ruan, and the child inside her womb.

Since Ruan san niang was so bored, and her energy was so vigorous, he would make sure that she was bereft of the energy to toss and turn.

This tactic was incredibly precise.

Ruan san niang was on the verge of collapsing because of the nightmares plaguing her.

After Ruan Xi learned of Wen Ting Zhou’s revenge, which was bordering on crazed cruelty, she did not pity Ruan san niang in the slightest.

It had to be said that Wen Ting Zhou was genuinely amazing; if he directly drugged her, it would be rendered ineffective by Ruan san niang’s system healing capabilities, but it was different if he acted after she fell asleep.

Presently, she was more curious about the things that Ruan san niang took out.

“According to the rumours, san jie took out the manufacturing method for glass and salt drying this time around?”

Glass, huh. Now that there was glass, she could look at the snowy scenery outside from her room during winter.

“Mn. The Emperor has already ordered his men to follow the formula to burn glass. The glass is rather practical, and it can be used to earn silver to fill up the national treasury. However, once the salt drying method is made public, it will affect the profits of the salt merchants, leading to a decline in salt prices which might trigger an insurrection, so it’s being kept secret for now. Owing to these contributions, I was originally planning to give up on tormenting Ruan fei, but who could have thought that she is incapable of repenting and she even went as far as gesticulating towards and criticising my back courtyard. Thus, I have decided to continue plaguing her with nightmares.” Wen Ting Zhou hooked up his lips slightly, cold light cutting past his eyes.

Did she think that she could find peace just because she went to the Imperial Family’s shrine?

In the present moment, Ruan san niang was still unaware that her flash of inspiration which prompted her to antagonise Ruan Xi, would lead to the onslaught of nightmares she would suffer in the Imperial Palace’s shrine that she had hoped to escape from.

Upon hearing that, Ruan Xi was very happy.

When it came to people like Ruan san niang, you could not tolerate them; when actions were necessary, they had to be taken.

“This is good too, hope that san jie can properly reflect on herself in the shrine this time around.”

Wen Ting Zhou raised an eyebrow.

“Ruan Ruan, do you think that’s possible?”

Ruan Xi went silent.

Wen Ting Zhou laughed softly before gently pulling Ruan Xi into his embrace. His larger hands roamed around her abdomen area, feeling for their child’s fetal movement.

“Did the child torment you today?”

Ruan Xi shook her head.

“No, they were rather obedient.”

“With such a quiet personality, it must be a girl.” Wen Ting Zhou’s eyes were smiling as he spoke.

Ruan Xi: “…..”

Who said it had to be a girl just because their personality was quiet?

However, as she gazed at Wen Ting Zhou’s happy appearance, Ruan Xi’s mouth curled up unconsciously.

Two days later, Ruan san niang, who was being plagued by constant nightmares, left for the Imperial Family’s shrine in a vast and mighty fashion.

The weather became colder and colder, and it even rained last night, so the winds were carrying moisture as they blew into the room.

It had already been half a month since Ruan san niang went to the Imperial Family’s shrine, and the glass products appeared, crowned with Ruan san niang’s name.

The current Imperial Palace was completely fitted with glass windows.

The few main courtyards of the Wen Residence were also fitted with glass windows, and Harmonious Dwelling was among them.

The fire braziers inside the room were already lit as Ruan Xi held the larger swell of her belly to sit down on the soft and substantial carpet. A fine drizzle could be seen outside the transparent and glistening glass windows, while Ruan Xi watched Wen Ting Zhou work on wood with overflowing interest.

Since today was Wen TIng Zhou’s rest day, he decided to make a small wooden bed for his unborn child in the room today.

Ruan Xi was rather intrigued by this.

This was the first time Ruan Xi had witnessed Wen Ting Zhou, an exemplary noble son, focusing on his woodwork, scrupulous about every detail.

Mama Yang and the rest looked visibly astonished.

In just a short day’s work, Wen Ting Zhou managed to finish making the small wooden bed, and all that was left was engraving the decorative design, polishing, and staining.

As Ruan Xi studied the exquisite, pretty, and safe small wooden bed, she caressed her bulging abdomen as a tender smile graced the side of her lips.

Compared to her, her child was blessed.

While the pair awaited the birth of their child sweetly, Ruan san niang’s entire body had thinned by a circle despite having only stayed in the Imperial Family’s shrine for less than a month.

“No way, I want to go back to the palace, I want to go back to the palace, I’m going to go insane if I don’t go back soon. Yao Hong, dispatch someone to send my letter to the palace, and state that I want to return to the palace in advance.”

Had she known earlier that the senior monks in the Imperial Family’s shrine were incapable of resolving her nightmares, she would not have come here to practice Buddhism.

It was easy to enter the Imperial Family’s shrine but it was hard to leave, especially if she wanted to leave in advance because that would require the Emperor’s verbal permission.

Ruan san niang regretted it so much she could throw up blood.

For the sake of leaving the Imperial Family’s shrine in advance, Ruan san niang could only bleed out a huge amount of capital and take out the cement formula to make an exchange, in hopes that after giving the cement formula, the Heavens could open one side of the net and allow her to sleep peacefully, or else she was afraid that she was going to die earlier than in her previous lifetime.

On the night Emperor Shengde received Ruan san niang’s cement formula, Ruan Xi had a strange dream.
