Chapter 6 – The Inception of Life

The World Tree was renowned throughout all the realms as a chaos-grade spiritual root. Although Mu Yuan didn’t know why it hadn’t been obliterated by the void, the World Tree sapling was undeniably powerful. 

Not only did it suppress and sort out the world’s laws and stabilize the world’s space, but it also could reconstruct the world’s environment, allowing for the evolution of life. The World Tree sapling was related to the World Tree. Consequently, it inherited the bloodlines of countless other races.

Of course, the World Tree sapling hasn’t grown to the extent of suppressing all. None of the bloodlines it possessed currently was related to creatures with extraordinary might. The World Tree sapling only contained bloodlines that were similar to the mundane beings on Earth. 

Mu Yuan fell silent for a moment, his pupils sharply turning into a pale gold. Exuding the Heavenly Dao’s authority, Mu Yuan’s consciousness surged into the bloodline inheritance of the World Tree sapling’s leaves. 

The World Tree’s bloodline inheritance was similar to a brilliant world, radiating with an array of colors while countless colorful points of light swirled around. 

Each point of light represented the bloodline of a race. However, as the inheritance had not been fully obtained, only a fraction of the points of light could be utilized. The rest were sealed away by the inheritance’s shackles.

The consciousness of a Heavenly Dao was vast and boundless. Mu Yuan frantically absorbed the information, which the World Tree’s bloodline inheritance contained. This information included flowers, fish, insects, countless plants, fierce beats, and more… It also contained the bloodline of the human race!

Mu Yuan immersed himself in the ocean of knowledge for an unknown period of time. Finally, a voice echoed at the top of Tongtian Mountain. “So that’s how it is, the mystery of life is fascinating.”

Mu Yuan opened his eyes and said with satisfaction, “The inheritance information of the World Tree has benefited me a lot. Now, my confidence in creating creatures is 100%.”

To make the Yuan World a world suitable for living creatures to reproduce and live on, the Mu Yuan would need to build a complete ecosystem step by step. The ecosystem would harbor more and more life as it grew. This process took a long time.

The first step was to create the biosphere’s key producer, plants.

Mu Yuan waved his hand, causing a sea of laws of life and laws of wood to surge into the Origin Dimension.

With a single thought, a drop of Origin Energy combusted into a vast amount of spiritual energy; the spiritual energy transformed into spirit particles. The spirit particles, laws of life, and laws of wood began integrating into a World Tree leaf. The particles, under the influence of the leaf’s extreme vitality and the inheritance bloodline, began combining into an exceptionally complex genetic code, and the genetic code synthesized into an even more complex genetic chain.

Mu Yuan, based on the information he obtained from the bloodline inheritance, experimented with the process. He was going to create the world’s first cell.

After countless failures, Mu Yuan had perfected the genetic chain. Finally, a tiny cell was born in his hands. It emitted the faint aura of life.

This cell was exactly the same as in Mu Yuan’s memory, with all the major structures of a cell such as the organelles and nucleus.

Mu Yuan wrinkled his brow and examined the cell in his hand. “No, although this cell has the aura of life, it feels like it’s still missing something.”

After thinking for a few moments, Mu Yuan came to a realization, his eyes lighting up. “Spirituality, yes, this cell lacks spirituality. Without spirituality, the cell can’t think or move and, as a result, even though it has the aura of life, it still looks lifeless.”

After figuring out the root of the problem, Mu Yuan now had a direction that he could explore to solve this problem. “How does one give a cell spirituality? Hmm…. Origin Energy is the origin of all. It must be able to create spirituality.”

Mu Yuan extracted a drop of Origin Energy, but instead of combusting it into spiritual energy and then spiritual particles, he divided it into countless Origin particles. When the Origin particles and the cell fused together, a peculiar fluctuation came from the cell. Spirituality was born!

“The beginning is often the most difficult. Now that the cell is already formed, the creation of plants is not far away.”

The process of cell creation flashed through his head. It was like witnessing the clouds parting to reveal the blazing sun. “The mystery of life is truly fascinating.”

Another drop of Origin Energy combusted, and this time the cell absorbed the spiritual energy. It began dividing and multiplying, splitting more than 10 times in a blink of an eye. In Mu Yuan’s hand was no longer a tiny cell, but… a seed full of vitality!

Then, Mu Yuan decisively combusted the thousands of drops of Origin Energy obtained from the World Tree’s two leaves into spiritual energy, concocting various kinds of seeds: grass, pine trees, fruit trees, shrubs, seaweed… 

The world’s Origin Energy, acting as the fundamental energy of the world, contained seemingly boundless energy in each drop. A single drop of Origin Energy could transform into an entire sea of water. The energy was enough to sustain the needs of all the creatures on a vibrant planet for several days.

At that moment, nearly a thousand drops of Origin Energy were being used to create seeds. It could be said that the number of seeds was equivalent to the number of water droplets in the ocean. Seeing Mu Yuan wave his sleeves, the seeds flew and disseminated across the world.

Mu Yuan glanced at the 2,000 drops of remaining Origin Energy in the Origin Dimension. He touched his chin and said, “The plants have been created. Now I just need to wait for the seeds to take root and flourish. Soon a biosphere that can sustain animals will be created. However, this will consume a lot of time….”

Mu Yuan thought about this predicament for a while. “Right now would be a good time to accelerate the time of this world, speeding up the world’s development. But, this will consume a lot of Origin Energy. Currently, I’m only a Minor World that has just advanced, so the world’s Origin Energy isn’t much.”

The acceleration of time was a function that was brought up by the advancement of the Yuan World. After all, when the Yuan wasn’t a Minor World, even its laws of time weren’t complete. Naturally, it couldn’t accelerate the time back then.

“Whatever, now that I’m the Heavenly Dao, time doesn’t hold much meaning to me. I’ll just let the plants grow and multiply naturally in the Yuan World.”

At the edge of a hill in the Origin Mountain Range, a “poof” sound echoed throughout the once silent environment. A sprout suddenly burst from the soil. 

Crash! Lightning pierced from the sky, rain hammered down,  and suddenly countless sprouts broke through the soil, displaying themselves arrogantly to the world!

When looking below, one would see the continent be gradually engulfed by the color green. Even aquatic plants had begun growing.

A thousand years passed in a blink of an eye. Mu Yuan’s consciousness, after awakening from its deep slumber, condensed a body. Sitting on a throne, with his left hand propping up his chin, he scanned the Yuan World.

After such a long time, the entire world was now divided into blue and green, the whole continent covered in lofty trees, which reached up to the clouds.

Mu Yuan thought for a moment. “The Yuan World’s natural environment is still too dull, only oceans and forests. The Earth in my past life was much more diverse. But, it appears the world has naturally given birth to microorganisms to establish a balance in the biosphere. They decompose the decaying trees, keeping the harmony.”

Deserts, swamps… Those things didn’t exist in the Yuan World. The land was only full of forests.

Obeying Mu Yuan’s thoughts, his consciousness wrapped around the world. The trees in the west of the Yuan World instantly transformed into a desert, the trees in the east transformed into plains, and the trees in the south transformed into swamps, wetlands… Various biomes popped up in the Yuan World.

Mu Yuan retracted his gaze. “A thousand years have passed. The foundation of the biosphere has been established. It’s time to create animals…”

The second step was to create the beings that consumed the plants – animals.
